Yep, if you can find them.

Do you listen to SACDs through your TV speakers?

The specs there at Crutchfield don't mention dvd-a discs. (I have a bunch of them.)

No, I have the 4K player hooked to a receiver. I have a modest 5.1 set up.

I'm not remotely trying to be critical, just trying to understand...you're planning on listening to SACDs through TV speakers (I'm presuming you don't even mean a soundbar) and not freestanding speakers? If so, I'm not sure you're going to be able to take advantage of the higher resolution that SACDs have to offer.

I understand. I'm just getting in to SACDs and if I continue to have interest in them I will definitely upgrade to something that will let me enjoy them better.

I agree with what has already been said. If you're interested in a higher quality recording, you need to invest in the proper equipment to be able to enjoy it. You're just wasting your money buying SACDs to listen to through your TV.

Unless you invest in proper equipment, SACDs will sound identical to regular CDs if you are playing them through TV speakers or a cheap soundbar. There is no point.

Again, please understand I'm not criticizing you, but to me, to "continue to have interest in them" is to be able to truly hear the higher resolution that you are paying a hefty premium for. If you don't have the requisite equipment, you might as well listen to a CD or stream through your TV. At the very least, after your SACD player purchase, maybe consider saving up a bit more and picking up a decent soundbar.

My MoFi copy of Eric Clapton's "Unplugged" will be arriving today.

Correct - you need to bump to the X800 to get DVD-Audio playback. I have had some 10 SACD/DVD-A ("universal") disc players since 2004 and I've always ensured my players will do both of these - the X800 was a little buggy here and there but the newer markII model is aces.

You're right, I misread. I have the x800, which is around $100 more.
