Just watched the trailer after browsing past your comment here and Christ that movie looks incredible - has a really amazing sort of Cronenberg vibe and a cool looking aesthetic. I'll be pre-ordering this one, thank you for the heads up(!).

More Sion Sono on Blu-ray, please!
He has 7 (!) movies listed on IMDB this year, but not sure which ones have a chance of getting any English-friendly BD release.

EDIT - I did see "Love & Peace" mentioned as a future release earlier in this thread - definitely a day one purchase for me!

While I was hoping for Dolls this Christmas, Kikujiro would be one for me to get my hands on. I love being region free.

Love & Peace is his best of late. It's also the movie he's most proud of in years.

Shinjuku Swan will I guess take a while as it's Sony who can take ages for int. releases

TAG i'm sure will be sometime next year as Shochiku asking for bucketloads for it (out of our league)

Esper (Virgin Psychics), not really worth it. Just watch the TV show. Or TV film (also came out this year)

Whispering Star may be tough to get a release as very arty but handled by expensive company...

Unfortunately a lot of his back catalogue like Hazard, Suicide Club, Norikos, etc don't have HD masters. His older catalogue has problems with rights and I wonder about material too. Maybe BAD FILM has a decent chance, but so long that expensive...

Anyways, there's enough to go around as is!

Just confirmed dates:

January – 11th – TWFBD022 - Hana-bi
Feb 22nd – TWFBD023 - Kikujiro
March 14th – TWFBD024 - Dolls

Sorry for the delay as had problems with the masters we were provided with so had to spend a lot of time and money to fix... Also, now trying to source extras. Getting Mark Schilling, chief reviewer of The Japan Times to record audio commentary for Hana-bi.

Great! Will preorder all 3 as soon as possible. Did you in any way co-operate with Capelight who will be doing 3-Disc-Mediabook releases of Dolls (bonus: Takeshi's!) and Hana-Bi (bonus: Kid's Return) in Germany in November and Outrage Beyond in early 2016?

We gave them the cleaned up version of Hana-bi so they'll have our fixed version

That's good news. Their's is out earlier, but I'll be buying both the TWF and Capelight releases anyway, same with Dolls.

Indeed, I'll get it myself eventually unless another company picks up the film in the UK. But I suppose not everyone here has gone the region free route yet.

Are the bonus movies also on blu-ray? I've been eyeing the japanese release of kid's return (english subtitled) for some time now, but a german release would also be fine.

Yes, both of those will be on seperate Blu-rays. No idea yet if they will have English subs, though. Capelight's release of Brother did while their Outrage had only German subs.

Thanks for all that info! I'm really excited for "Love and Peace", it looks amazing. Shame about "Tag" as that one seems like it would have been perfect for you to release. I think one can never have enough Sion Sono.

One of the reasons I bought a region-free Blu-Ray player is so I could have your releases of "Cold Fish" and "The Land of Hope" on BD. I watched them again this weekend and I'm really happy to have them in my collection!

I'm a little late - but absolutely great news Hana-Bi has been confirmed after the master issues. It would have been up there for my top 3 titles of the year, but now there has to be something unbelievable to top it in 2016. Just a shame those other 2 are not my cup of tea, would have liked to have supported more - Violent Cop and Sonatine would have been the Kitano's I would have been all over.
