This Bronson completist fetish is starting to add a lot of garbage into my collection. Thankfully, Prime Video has a ton of CB flicks out there for sampling before plunging for a purchase. Recently caught 'Borderline', 'Violent City', 'Love and Bullets' on PV and Jeessus, what a load of crap ! 'Love and Bullets' - how could you shoot on location in Switzerland and not have an eye for the landscapes' beauty, that cameraman had no business holding one

Each to their own, but there is just no way for me that Violent City (with its Ennio Morricone score, Bronson at his peak, well-directed by Sergio Sollima and incredible car chase and locations) is worse than Love & Bullets, Breakout, Caboblanco and every film he made after 10 To Midnight in 1983.

![]() But imagine if it had been Murder, He Wrote and starred Charlie. Every episode would have ended with him killing someone. Lt. Bumschmaker: Where's the suspect? Jesse Fletcher: I shot him. He's dead. Roll credits. Seriously though, Messenger of Death is a pretty decent thriller most of the way, only the finale is a bit weak, as if they run out of money. It's not popular with the critics because, well, it's Cannon, or the fans because it's lacking the sleaze and ultra-violence of Charlie's other work from the era. |

I liked "Diagnosis Murder" more than the Angela Lansbury series but back to Bronson. Of course, "Violent City" is much better than most of Bronson´s later films. Top 10 Bronson film. My favorite Bronson movies however (where he´s the main star) are "Death Wish", Mr. Majestyk and Hard Times. Of course, he was in many classics (The Magnificient Seven, The Great Escape, The Dirty Dozen and of course, "Once upon a Time in the West) but he wasn´t the main star in these great movies. |

The 70s are Bronson's best period, despite dropping off towards the end of the decade. But the 80s had the Death Wish sequels, The Evil That Men Do, Death Hunt, 10 to Midnight etc, and a lot of filler in between.

I've watched a good number of Bronson films this year and by far the best was The Mechanic, followed up by Hard Times. I especially love the dialogue-free opening of The Mechanic.

Agree. The Mechanic is probably my favourite Bronson film other than Once Upon A Time In The West. And I have to say that I went into Hard Times not expecting all that much, and it turned out to be one of my all time favourites too. Excellent film!

In regards to "Mr. Majestyk", I can see Kino probably porting over the Paul Talbot commentary from the Signal One Blu along with maybe the Fiction Factory-produced Lee Purcell and Richard Kline interviews.

I´m somehow skeptical that Kino Lorber new 2k remaster will be much better than their first blu-ray.Maybe only slightly better. |
