There is more to it that that. If you are interested. The character was bullied for his darker complexion. So this would be changing a trait, that is actually a part of his character. Something that fueled him.




They changed his skin tone later in the comics.

It is a really poorly written argument. Basically it is OK to cast an Englishwoman as a Scot because Scots come in all races (despite the fact that the English did not see it that way for much of history and traditionally Scots were Celts), but apparently Brazilian is a race, except when it isn't.

Maybe all actors should have to get a 23-and-me analysis prior to taking any role in a movie.

Apparently some people have nothing better to do with their time that look for insults and slights. Interestingly, the author of the CBR piece identifies as a 22 year old English Literature major, so she is probably scouring the internet trying to prevent other people from being offended.

There are options out there of Brazilian actors of African decent. This is the second time this is happened on screen for the character though.

I do agree with different parts of what people say here.

I guess what bothers me is when people have specific issues when it comes to race. Like this whole thing with Sunspot is an issue but Olivia Munn as half Vietnamese/Chinese is okay as Psylocke because she's at least Asian, even though the character is Japanese? (Yes, I'm aware that she's white than put into a Japanese body and now is white again)
