Do anyone have suggestions of HDR patterns that I could use to make the PQ more reliable in HDR mode as now I see the settigings I were suggested earlier (by subscription) were crappy in HDR mode (assumedly not for movie viewing but something else maby) ? Edit: also I'd love to know does infact the 2p color calibration actually apply to HDR content if the calibration were made in SDR mode? Atleast I could see the 10p settings do not anymore follow? Edit 2: just FYI all these questions are regarding Samsung KS8005 EU (KS7000 USA). Last edited by Leterface; 12-03-2018 at 10:36 PM. |

I'm not super authority guy on the KS8000 or anything though, so advice will vary (and so would a pro-calibration, obviously). I did do a lot of research though and movie mode is pretty darn accurate out of the box according to most sources (though panels can vary a bit). |

Blind bought the first 3 movies on 4k on Black Friday. Definitely not regretting my decision.

So I have the Panasonic UB820 and around 0:49 minute mark of First Blood I get a very brief veo break up while Troutman is talking to Rambo on the Radio. It happens against a minute after in the cave and then one more time later and then never again. I of course went back and sometimes I could get it to repeat and sometimes it played perfectly? Should I return it and get another disc? Would that help?

Got First Blood to play without issue on my Oppo 203 ...got about 30 minutes into First Blood Part II and it completely froze up and was dead in the water after repeated attempts at troubleshooting. I’m sure I’m not alone in this experience. Anybody have a solution? Any response much appreciated and my apologies if this issue was discussed and resolved earlier in the thread.

Exactly what time did you get the freeze? I made it just over 30 minutes into First Blood Part II last night before I had to call it a night, and I didn't have any issues.
Absolutely stunning disc, by the way. I might prefer the more grain heavy look of the original but the clarity in Part II really blew me away. These are amazing transfers. |

Just finished it and I had no playback issues. I’m just really impressed with how these turned out. I think they hold up well compared to any other catalog titles I’ve seen. The explosions, the skies, the jungles, the smoke, the torture: it’s all beautiful.

Did anyone else notice missing details like gunshots? I've been a bit hesitant to mention this, because I haven't upgraded to 4K yet, but it's a problem I noticed on the Blu-rays that came with the German steelbook. It's particularly noticeable at the end of Rambo II when
[Show spoiler] . Watch the first couple of gun flashes.. they barely register. It's also noticeable in the helicopter attack scene... A lot of the Vietnamese and Russian soldiers guns don't fire properly for some reason, even though they did in past transfers. ![]() On the whole, First Blood looks solid and for the most part, Rambo: First Blood Part II looks great, but I was disappointed with the way Rambo III looked. Maybe it's the pisstavision effect, but again a lot of the details look obscured in a way they weren't before, particularly those magnificent explosions. Someone on a previous page said they look like orange blobs... I couldn't agree more. |

I didn't notice any missing gunshots but I'm not great at picking up that kind of thing. However, I just finished Rambo 3 and while I wouldn't go so far as to say that the explosions look like blobs, they do seem to lack the nuance of the excellent looking explosions from the first two movies.
That said, I was still really happy with how Rambo 3 looked. It was the least consistent of the three in terms of grain structure and color timing, which seemed to me to vary from shot to shot in certain sequences, but overall I thought it looked very sharp and textured. There's a lot of dust and/or dark sequences in this movie and the disc resolved those scenes very well. Off the top of my head I'd say that this ended up being the best trilogy collection I watched this year. |
