Again, I can't think of a single incident where this has happened. Not since the 12A was issued. It used to happen years ago but that was almost always pushing 15 certificates up to an 18 (e.g. Starship Troopers).

I'm happy to be proven wrong if that's the case because I'm genuinely interested in this sort of thing but, AFAIK, no 12A certificate has ever been anything other than a 12 on video (except, of course, for alternative cuts, e.g. Hunger Games). Besides which we know that Disney did not have the uncut edition rated at all for video so at no point did the BBFC advise them to take it out.

Disney deserve a huge slap on the wrist for treating UK fans so shabbily, but when all's said and done giving this release one star is just sad.

What rating would these people have given the title if the picture quality or audio had also been rubbish (far more important issues for most of us), if they've already given the title the lowest mark possible despite reference quality video and audio?
I'm one of those that gave it 1 star.

Many have pointed out that they've given it 1 star because of the cut and the special features. To those fans, myself included, these things are important. Had it always had the spear-tip missing then fair enough, that would have been what I saw at the cinema and then would have bought accordingly. I wouldn't feel that I'd be tricked into buying what I feel is an inferior version of the movie (no matter how small the edit might be). I wouldn't even have minded if the shawarma scene hadn't been added as again, that's not the version I saw.

Some might find it odd, but only having the edited version available in this country is just as bad as The Wolfman on DVD by only offering the extended cut. That wasn't the version I saw at the cinema, it's not better IMO than the theatrical version and actually has a huge mistake in that Emily Blunt now goes to see Benicio Del Toro, yet later on they refer to the letter she sent him (which only happens in the theatrical version - whoops).

To me it's about being shown one thing, but only being offered another. Yes, I could (and probably will) import, but that's really not the point.

Add to that the missing commentary and other features which the US gets as standard and the fact that in all honesty, I'm tired of the way Disney treats its UK customers. No double-play/tripple-play Blu-rays (Disney Classics). Dropped special features (The Incredibles). Features listed that don't exist (Pinocchio), no slips (which the US get as standard) and frankly no price drop between a jam-packed release of a year or 2 ago and a barebones release now.

As for the PQ/AQ. If that had been poor too, than it would have just been another thing to complain about. I'm not denying that it looks and sounds great and for some that's all they want. But for others, they basically feel they've been short-changed in comparison to the US counterparts.

Finally, to be outright lied to by Disney 3 times now is unacceptable. First off 'it hasn't been edited, it really hasn't'. Umm, yes it has. 'It's been edited for compliance reasons', umm, no it hasn't. And that's not what you said yesterday. 'We don't give DMR points for it as it's not a Disney branded product', umm, I've got an email that says you do. Oh an the 'you can order it from the US if you want', true, but I shouldn't have to.

Yeah same here. I think it will probably be Monday - I can't imagine them doing it over the weekend.

Chronicle is a recent example. While the Blu-ray was an extended cut, the theatrical cut was the only version released on DVD, and that too was deemed worthy of being upped from a 12A to a 15.

The cinema release was cut for 12A. The DVD features the "uncut theatrical version" basically, hence the uprating to 15. The director's cut has the violence of the uncut theatrical version so it too is 15.

Today I put the DisneyUK shambles to one side and watched the film, still just as awesome as the first two times!
[Show spoiler]Coulson's not dead! He's just been punched in the back! :P

Ahh, so it was, didn't see that note on it before. I stand corrected.

Boycotts never work, especially if you're the only one doing the boycotting.

And me. This is getting beyond pathetic. One of the best films of the year came on a high quality disc with regards to PQ and AQ and people are losing it over (literally) 1 second cut and a lack of extras. The extras I can slightly understand, but it's not as if the cut affects the film in any way AT ALL. The most minor detail. Really worth spending the extra money to import a copy just to see a spear tip....

I watched it the other night in 3D and enjoyed it just as much as I did in the cinema (if not more). I'm very satisfied with the purchase and have no complaints.

(Although I did request the DMR points)

Could someone just confirm that the Target exclusive of Avengers isn't on some limited release? I will have to wait until my relatives go back to America before they can buy it and post it to me. I don't want this thing selling out in less than a week!

It's not even like the cut effects the story. I didn't even notice the cut when I watched it last night, and I had seen the comparison pictures. I just forgot about it because I was too engrossed in the film to be bothered about cutting a spike from someone's chest. It's a pretty petty complaint I think. It's strange that they cut it, I'll admit that, but people are acting as if they cut about 20 minutes of the film out.

What's more annoying? Complaints, or people complaining about complaints?

I've just posted my 1 star review on Amazon.co.uk. The negative reviews are still coming in thick and fast. When are Disney going to realise this won't go away and they have no choice but to offer replacement discs?

Publicly voicing your dislike on a popular outlet like Amazon is the best way of getting the Disney UK's attention.

LET THE NEGATIVES COMMENCE!
