Nobody cares for THX...except Onkyo/Integra and Elite. Audyssey is only Denon/Marantz. Outside Denon/Marantz, nobody has a 9+ channel available yet(far as I know Yamaha hasn't released the 3050 to the wild). Onkyo/Integra and Pioneer/Elite have yet to announce anything, at all, anywhere in the world, for 2015 that is 9 or 11 channels. Since you want 11 channels, today...you have 3 choices. Denon 5200/7200 or the Marantz 8802. Edit: The 3050 is available. So you have 4 choices. Yamaha 3050, no THX or Audyssey. Denon/Marantz 5200/7200/8802, no THX. Yeah I'm hoping more receivers get announced with the features I want. I personally like the THX sound modes so that's why I want it. Though I don't know if the new Dolby processor would basically eliminate the need for THX for me.

THX still certifies the components after testing.

Also I have just been so happy with my Onkyo TX-SR875 receiver that I don't want to leave the brand,so I guess I am playing the waiting game. ![]() |

Another very good reason to sit tight,at Blu-ray's inception it seemed that "Dolby Tru HD" would be pretty much the standard, but in the end of the day it was "Dts Master Audio" that the majority of Blu-ray's have as their lossless track. Dts are promising much more flexibility with their object based surround format,so it could happen again,at the least it would be sensible to see how both installations work in a home enviroment, just so we do justice to both formats. |

And the promised DTS X flexibility is bunk. All they're saying is that it's compatible with existing setups. Nothing special. |

http://www.uk.onkyo.com/en/products/...30-117903.html These two from Onkyo are the nearest to the specification I need, and I was wondering how easy it would be for them to receive "Dts X" via a firmware update in the future?,I know there are amps/receivers that are getting "Dolby Atmos" with future firmware updates. |

That's what DTS is saying. If you have already set up your speakers for Atmos...or Auro...their system will play through it without issue.

The only reason(and...I mentioned it LAST YEAR) Denon is ahead of the curve with the 5200/7200 is because of HOW LATE IN 2014 THEY WERE RELEASED(as in DTS already leaked "vapor" about X. So Onkyo already had everything out. Denon had the time to get the 5200/7200 ready, hardware wise, before they were ever released. The 5200/7200 can be considered pre-2015 to full year 2015. I doubt either gets replaced during the 2015 stretch...which ends this time in 2016) Last edited by schan1269; 08-17-2015 at 01:27 AM. |

Studios have to start making some product (bluray) news regarding DTS-X for the upcoming Holiday sales season soon (we're just hitting the half way mark through August) - or DTS will have very little to entice the public with. Sony's sudden support of Atmos helped Dolby considerably

I just realized the date today is the 17th. I was told the boat from Japan carrying my RX-A3050 would've hit the dock in Vancouver yesterday.
My AVR will be here in the coming week, but I'll be up at work. ![]() I'm gonna be pretty psyched when I get back in early September! ![]() |
