I recently bought the dvd. It was a 2 movie set with St Ives. What I didn't know was that I was buying a double sided disc. It's from like 2009. I thought that shit had stopped.

While I won't go this far I did just revisit the entire series and V is definitely not an awful film. In the canon of the series, sure, it's a weaker effort but I never tire of seeing Kersey in action. Plus, since Bronson was so old he relies on traps and tricks more than brute force. Worth owning the Umbrella release for sure.

Warner has to find the original negative and probably has to restore that too. I“ve never seen this movie with a good master.

Even the HD version on ITunes France doesn“t look good.

#5 is enjoyable even though the film doesn't hide Toronto very well.

The only two Charles Bronson movies I've seen are The Magnificent Seven and The Great Escape. Two of my Dad's favourite films, he is a huge Steve McQueen fan.

These two movies are not "Charles Bronson movies". He belonged to the supporting cast but he was not the main star.

If you want to see some great Bronson movies, then you can start with: Death Wish, Hard Times, Mr Majestyk and The Mechanic.

^Death-wish has to me always been a queasy movie in its exploitation elements, but yeah, the others are classy Bronson vehicles (especially Hard Times), although Mechanic loses me a little towards the end.

5 is a lot of fun for me, in part to the great performance from Michael Parks.

They've confirmed a "The White Buffalo" remaster for next year:

Kino Lorber Insider reveals information on extras related to the upcoming Bronson new transfers\releases of "Breakheart Pass", "Mr. Majestyk", "Chato's Land", "The White Buffalo" and "Violent City" in one of his more recent posts:

BHP does not include a Talbot commentary, he only had time to record commentaries for VIOLENT CITY and THE WHITE BUFFALO.

We plan to acquire all the UK extras, including the Talbot commentary for MR. MAJESTYK.

BHP will include a new commentary by Howard S. Berger, Steve Mitchell and Nathaniel Thompson. CHATO'S LAND by Howard S. Berger and Steve Mitchell and the interview from the TT disc. We're also hoping to locate some TV spots, radio spots, etc.

I finally saw DW 5 recently, and I watched it with my parents. They liked it more than I did. While I didn't hate it, I see why it gets flack. I think I might actually like it more than #4. That one was quite disappointing after the glory that is DW3.

I already have all those Bronson blu-rays. For me a purchase only makes sense if the picture quality is better.

"Violent City" (4k master) will be better as the Italian 1080i blu-ray but the others as well?

We have to wait....

The Spanish disc, though a BD-R, is pretty great looking. Same transfer as the OOP Twilight Time.

Death Hunt was Timeless Media (a subsidiary of Shout Factory).

My mistake. Either way, the Spanish disc has a good transfer.

Kino Lorber Insider provided updates on their upcoming Bronson releases. I am not sure what he meant by listing a new 4K and a 2K restoration for "Violent City". No date yet for the new transfer/release of "The White Buffalo".

November 9th
Chato's Land (1972) Brand New 2K Master by KL
Breakheart Pass (1975) Brand New 2K Master by KL

December 7th
Violent City (1970) aka The Family - 4K and 2K restorations
Mr. Majestyk (1974) - New 2K Master by KL

Possible delay for "Violent City" announced today by Kino Lorber Insider:

This release may be delayed.

We currently have the Cittą violenta cut newly restored in 4K by Il Cinema Ritrovato, the 2K cut of Violent City done in 2015. These two cuts are the same length, the 4K one has Italian credits and full Italian audio, the 2K one has English opening credits and audio mostly in English, with some scenes in Italian.

We've been trying to locate THE FAMILY, the slightly shorter U.S. release fully in English, we had found the SD master and were planning to include it as an extra, but just today, we may have located the film elements for this cut, so if this is true, we will do a new 2K or 4K scan of THE FAMILY, which is not seen anywhere since the 1989 VHS release. And of course, we would move the street date from December to early 2022.
