Arrow released some UK steelbooks, rather beautiful, for The Fall of the House of Usher and The Pit and the Pendulum.

I've only been collecting physical media for about a year but I've been buying a lot of steelbooks in this short time. Is it just me or are new releases from BestBuy becoming harder and harder to find? I rarely find new releases on the shelves. Is this due to covid or the fact that BB is limiting what gets sent to their stores?

They have been slowly decreasing their space for Social Media over the last 5 years or so. They don’t release all new releases at store but u can get lots of it thru their website to be shipped to u. Shipping charges would apply to that unless u are an elite plus member then shipping is free.

Probably both, and it also depends on the BestBuy. I have 5 stores near me in a 30 mile radius and they all have different floor strategy. The larger stores seem to have kept all their movie aisles, while the smaller stores are reducing or removing them down to only end caps. The biggest store still has 4 long double sided aisles dedicated to movies. If you have multiple stores near you, try a different one.

Just bought a steelbook that has six discs -- three discs on both sides, and, unfortunately, they were stacked. I took them out and put the discs in separate cases I had lying around for now since it's way too much of a hassle to take them out of the steel and to ensure they don't get scratched.

Anyone ever run into such an issue with stacked discs? If so, what was your storage solution? Normally I'd just buy a different type of case that matches the measurement of the original but can't such a thing with a steel.

If they are blu rays I would not worry about it. You would actually have to WORK at f*cking up a Blu ray disc. I mean, you would have to go at it with a chisel. There is a very strong protective coating on the surface.
I have never (ever) seen a BR disc have issues because of surface scratches.
You would have to gouge that thing. I never have had any issues with stacked blu rays.

Question about the Lionsgate single-disc steelbook for Apocalypse now. I think it's identical to the Best-buy one from a few years ago and you can now pick this up at Target. It looks like this:

It only comes with one disc. Does anyone know if you can safely fit two discs on the inside? I believe this is what it looks like on the inside of the steelbook:

Here's a picture I found online of the inside.

My goal here is to pick up the steelbook for cheap and put the two discs from the two-disc SE if they will fit. Thanks in advance!

I've wondered this too, but out of curiosity, how would you go about printing onto the metal?

People used to buy cheap steelbooks from the Walmart bins to replace damaged frames.

You should probably be searching here in the Steelbook forum/threads for making Custom Steelbooks to see what’s been discussed previously.

From what I’ve read previously the makers don’t sell blank do it yourself kits.

I don't think there are any blank steelbook cases available. You may just have to make do with what you got, or rebuy the whole movie with the steelbook case.

Default Speed 4k?

I saw that SPEED 4K @ BBY has popped up on the 2021 release thread. Does anyone have any info about this release? Very curious...

Specifically the steelbook or just the 4K Blu-ray? I have no idea about a steelbook.

On the 2021 Steelbook release thread up above it is listed as being released in May 2021. I can't find any info online anywhere though. Maybe it's a mistake?

Yes, "Heat" is still getting a release but you're looking later in the summer. Speed is set for May - I don't know the exact date.

As for the cover, there will be a steelbook and since everyone has an opinion these days, I actually really dig the cover art; at least it aint 'floating head' art we've had in the past. Considering Disney just repurposed the hideous artwork for 'Home Alone' 4K and actually came up with something new for this release, it's a good sign they're taking this 4k catalog stuff seriously. I'd always rather the original theatrical art work but in this case, I think the new art here captures the spririt of the movie and is fun.

And at the end of the day, the transfer on this film is supposed to be amazing.

SB0780 who is most in the know about Disney releases says that there will be a steelbook. Would be strange if not, as almost all other Disney 4K releases also got a steelbook release.

That new artwork was made for a steelbook would look really good. I have the BD steelbook but I have no problem rebuying a movie like this. It's a 90's classic.
