The Elephant Man is probably the saddest movie I've ever seen.

Great; now I'm depressed. I'm gonna go hug our current dogs.

A few off the top of my head. There's definitely others.

I find it interesting that you cried when Ofelia got her dress dirty. I didn't think of that as a significant moment in the story. I'm curious as to why you did.

What about when Ofelia died? Did you cry then? Why or why not?

I understand why. Roy never really fit in Earth, and he had no reason to stay on Earth. He had no friends, he had no job, and his wife left him and took the kids with her (though I understand why she did that, and I could see the kids wanted to stay because I remember one of them saying "Daddy needs some more help"), so when he decided to go up into space with the aliens, I cried not out of sadness, but because I was really happy for Roy. I wanted to go with Roy.

I agree. The ending of that movie was beautiful, and the music complemented the visuals perfectly.

I cry everytime I watch the helicopter scene from Superman, specifically when Lois says, "You've got me? Who's got you?"
My heart just swells up.

Cry might be overstating, misty-eyed is more like it.

When I was young my favorite cousin got a beating for getting her dress dirty at a family function. I tried to stop my uncle & also got in trouble. That scene brought me back there.

Even though I did find her death sad, it was depicted as "a happy ending" as she was reunited with her family so I didn't cry, get misty-eyed or feel said.

Highlander…the scene where Heather is coming up the hill to the house as Conner waits for her. “Who wants to Live forever” by Queen is playing, and when Heather comes into view you can see how she’s aged and Conner hasn’t. I’ve seen this movie countless times since it was released, and it gets me every MFing time.
