  • Disney/Fox - SVOD late 2019. SVOD/AVOD Hulu for several years. Provides digital codes with disc.
  • Lionsgate - SVOD (Starz) for several years now. No digital codes with disc.
  • MGM - No SVOD streaming and none announced. No digital codes with disc.
  • Paramount Pictures - No SVOD streaming and none announced. Closed the Paramount Pictures store. No digital codes with disc.
  • Universal - SVOD sometime in 2020. Provides digital codes with disc.
  • Warner Media - SVOD sometime in 2020. Provides digital codes with disc.

Criterion streaming was available for several years as part of FilmStruck which went defunct. Now Criterion has reemerged as the Criterion Channel.

Want to do some real fun, try to figure out what combo of streaming providers/hardware has UHD, HDR, Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos/DTS:X and does it properly.
If you're gonna post something at least post correct information.

The bolded are all false.

You're trying to tell us MI: Fallout didnt have a digital code? or that the john wick movies didnt? etc. WB puts a lot of the MGM flicks out with digital

A couple of random things from this past weekend in regards to Digital vs Physical

The movie Gorillas in the Mist is not available digitally so there is a good case where owning the physical copy is the only way to see it.

UFC started offering their PPVs exclusively on the ESPN+ streaming service. You literally cannot buy it via cable or satellite anymore.

Those are UV studios and UV is shutting down (you did get memo did you not). Feel free to post digital codes for upcoming disc releases from those studios.

Bumblebee. 2 weeks ago. Dragged Across Concrete in 2 weeks. Cold Pursuit, Fighting with my Family, What Men Want (May). Even Hellboy 2019 is going to have digital and that won't hit until July most likely.

The shutdown is still over 3 months away as well. I'm not sure how they will handle it but iI don't see the codes going away. If they don't join MA right away I could see the redemptions being provider specific. Don't try to pass off assumptions as fact.

That's #fakenews

Yeah, new Paramount and Lionsgate titles still come with codes. They may not give you UV rights anymore, but they still come with a digital code that you can redeem.

TheDean does a good job of giving code information here in this thread:

https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread...36721&page=219

He even posted some recent Lionsgate titles with codes:

https://forum.blu-ray.com/showpost.p...postcount=4358

You can go to https://movieredeem.com/ to redeem your Lionsgate code and it will give you an option. Usually always Vudu or FandangoNow, and usually Google Play and sometimes i-tunes.

OK how is this for the studios in question: No UV digital codes with disc after 07/31/2019, no alternative announced.

There have been and continue to be blatant wrong pro streaming info posted here but you have made no attempt to correct it, why is that?

Some may find this interesting: Reed Hastings of Netflix said on the Q4 call. “We’ve got a path ahead, everyone else in streaming is trying to find one.”

Gotta love the irony of Wendy. So certain that digital codes are going away, despite the fact there is zero evidence of it actually happening. Than totally spins a report that shows hard facts of a decline in physical media profits, to 'well actually...'

For folks that purchase MA codes, when you click Redeem you are presented with this:

Quote:
*FOR COMBINATION PACKS: Digital codes originally packaged in a combination disc + code package (for example, a combination package that includes a DVD, Blu-ray, and/or 4K/UHD disc(s) and a digital code) are not authorized for redemption if sold separately. By redeeming one of these codes, you are representing that you, or a member of your family, obtained the code in an original disc + code package and the code was not purchased separately. Your representation is a condition of redemption of the code and of your obtaining a license to access a digital copy of the movie. To read all terms and conditions applicable to using your Movies Anywhere account, click here. If you agree, click the REDEEM button above.
Other sites have similar wording. Does it not bother you that you lie every time you redeem a purchased code?

Only one time did I try to sell my codes, did not get any response and never tried again. Have never purchased a digital code.

Does it bother you that disc purchasers are illegally selling the codes?

That was a predictable response from that poster. Evade a question and answer with a question.

As to selling codes in the US, one can search Case 2:17-cv-08655-DDP-AGR.

Quote:
This injunction shall expire ninety days after the date of its issuance, absent a showing by Disney that it clearly and prominently indicates, on physical packaging and/or online, that Combo Pack purchasers who do not agree to later-disclosed digital license terms may, with reasonable restrictions, return Codes or Combo Packs for a refund.

IT IS SO ORDERED.
The last time I looked there was no way to get a refund for MA codes so it is possible that injunction may have expired. If so, that would mean it is legal to sell MA codes, just illegal to redeem them.

I've only bought an MA code once. And I've never sold any codes that come with my discs. Ebay has prohibited selling digital codes. Searching for them online now is hardly worth it IMO.

But the market for 'illegal' codes is created by disc owners. So your original post to try and shame people who bought them makes no sense.

I hardly spend time on here these days and haven't seen anything as blatantly incorrect as your post.

Physical media sales have fallen over 50% the past 5 years, they're not going to eliminate another potential incentive for purchase with the digital copy. that makes no sense

So how do I get a refund for my MA codes? Without a way to get a refund that injunction has expired. Do you have a reference to other case law showing that it is illegal to sell MA codes?
