Not next week. They have the deal for books only.

They sold all the movies in those spots
They for whatever reason moved the movies on the shelf to change the tags
Or are making more room for books.

If the last option were true. Why would they change out the prices on the tags?

Buying stuff in stores anymore is getting more and more difficult.
My local Target and Walmart both have half an aisle of DVD/Blu-rays. They keep expanding the books and taking away from the movies.

Just bought Mississippi Burning on itunes for 4.99. Digital is a fail safe for me, just in case I have to do a massive downsizing I'll still have the films digitally.

I stand by slow death just look at what's happening at Best Buy. That's what nailed it for me. I still buy lots of physical movies but as I wrote changes happen slowly "slow."

I really don't care what the industry does that has gotten us into this situation because I have no control of how companies do what they do. Just like I couldn't scream at music companies back in the 80s KEEP MAKING VINYL! Which through happenstance came back into vogue.

The companies are acting the way they act because they are a business.

But isn't it nice that Paramount for whatever reason is back in the bluray catalog business...I mean finally releasing Murder On The Orient Express and Warner Archive with Ivanhoe and Angels With Dirty Faces

AND THEN there's the standalone 4K release of Lawrence Of Arabia

But from 2010 to now the erosion is obvious in product in the stores.

There is very little impulse buying online for films.
Your obvious shallow interpretation of my avatar and presumptuous knee jerk theories of ecommerce aside. Seriously, you state you don't care enough to pay attention, yet you want to share your opinion on the subject as if to pretend expertise on what's going on? You're saying you don't mind being manipulated by corporate america into paying more for less. Ok. How about more for nothing, because that IS the endgame we're talking about. Make no mistake, that is what digital will lead to. That's not just me talking, that's the Supreme Court, that's public statements from high level executives from every major studio repeated for decades, in case you want to wishfully contend they've had a change of heart. We're talking about an industry that has historically preferred a pay-per-view model, that supported dvd only because it was far too profitable not to, and for the first time in history they had a platform where they could make serious new profits off properties that would otherwise be sitting around collecting dust.

You "own" absolutely NOTHING with digital. To think otherwise is deluding yourself and everyone you share such grossly uninformed opinion with. With digital the consumer has no long-term rights whatsoever. And because of said naivety, the genuine collector market or real goods we have legal claim to is losing their guarantee as well: production effort declined dramatically many years ago as Hollywood shifted its focus toward growing digital; now replication quality is declining at an alarming rate, while at the same time producers are shutting down their support lines for physical product, not replacing defective discs for any reason, because the outcry isn't loud enough to hurt their brand or attract legal action, and hey if someone swears off physical media in favor of digital because of too many defective discs, lack of extras, lower quality video (no 4K), etc, delayed release, that's even better - even if you've got deep enough pockets where you don't mind buying the same movie twice because the first copy was faulty from the factory, now you never know if you can even find a replacement without paying OOP prices.

I can imagine how hard that might be to hear for someone who has heavily invested in and naively championed the format for years to all his friends. But the fact is, digital is one of the most anti-consumer agendas I've ever seen. Maybe there are others just as egregious, but I reported on this industry for many years. It was my job, and I think I have a pretty good handle on it - good enough to call the format war over a year before Bill Hunt was willing to risk alienating part of his readership with the hard truth, which came what... a month before Warner announced their Blu-ray exclusivity, essentially sealing HD DVD's coffin for good? I'd already retired at that point and even I heard about Warner's decision a week or two before it went public, imagine how much notice Hunt had with his connections.

Digital is nothing more than a refinement of what Hollywood tried with Divx. Fortunately in 1997-? consumers were savvy enough to shut it down in favor of DVD. But Hollywood learns from their mistakes. With digital, they've proven a level of mastery of consumer manipulation that they never had way back when, or maybe I was just naive back then to see it too.

As others have said, OOS items do come back, though in your case with GT, that might be a more limited item. Then again, you'd think Sony would publish a pretty good number of those since it's one of its flagship franchises.

Of course, you'll have to make a call on that one.

Former Target employee here. I worked in electronics and we'd replenish shelves from the back stock every night. My cart was always FILLED with books and very few movies.

They must be if all these retailers are expanding the book section. Walmart is the same story. Books have three times the amount of shelf space there too.

Not to mention Target makes more off per book sale. Retailer barely makes anything off movie and game sales.

Looks like the four May Shout/Scream Factory 4K UHDs were removed from Target's database. Disappointing since I was hoping to pick them up on a future B2G1, but I guess it's not surprising given their track record with past releases from this label.

The amount of people that actually want to buy Nomadland on 4K or bluray are all here on this forum.

Target still sells a small amount of CDs [mainly Hit Product] and is stocking Vinyl because they've seen it sells.

Physical media is ending...the sky is falling but it has been looking like a slow death.

There will still be media in stores for a while but don't expect the stores to stock Drive My Car on release day. Resident Evil: Welcome To Raccoon City yes, Drive My Car no.

Also the major studios will have the advantage in getting titles into stores.

Also all those Fox catalog titles? I really feel once they are gone Disney will not reprint most of them unless it's Star Wars or Die Hard.

I don't mind there being more books but ALL paperback? I hate paperback. I'm a hardcover lover and it sucks that stores even B&N hardly stock hardcovers. Ordering from Amazon is a risk because you don't know what condition the book will arrive in.

As for vinyl in stores, it would be nice if stores carried varied product but nope I've been to like 5 Targets and they only seem to carry Adele and Billie Eilish vinyls.. same with B&N.. went to most of them in the Minneapolis suburbs and they all pretty much carry the same products.

These are convenience store gift products at this point, not even loss leaders. I live in the Twin Cities, home base of Target, Best Buy, and even Mill Creek. I can't imagine why you'd drive to multiple suburban Targets to look at vinyl when there are still great record stores here.

I have yet to see anyone browsing the vinyl sections of Target and Walmart when I've been there, yet I always see people browsing the movie section almost every single time. Sure, lets keep getting rid of the movie section for vinyl, makes sense.

Not sure if anyone said it yet, but 15% off Red Rocket circle offer. Brings it from $16.99 down to $14.44. If you use your red card, another 5% off.

You can get one of the best films of 2021 for $13.59.

For some reason the more rural and smaller suburban areas with a more rural feel have tended to have larger movie sections locally. The more urban and larger suburban markets generally have a pretty weak in-store selection in comparison.
