With the money you saved, buy a sleeping bag and get ready to sleep in the living room.

As soon as the deal is confirmed, let me know so that I add your name to the list of owners in Post #1. What other speakers do you have?

I don't need a sleeping bag, we've got a nice comfy couch! (take a look at the gallery)

I've got all Polk Monitor's, 60's in the front, CS1 Center and 30's for the surround.

Be careful when you take the driver out. The wires are soldered to both the amplifier and the driver. You need to hold the driver with one hand and add polyfill with the under hand so that the wires do not get disconnected.

Don't add too much polyfill. Make sure the polyfill is loose and the sub has some breathing room.

I won a second chance black AA sub12 for 179.00 shipped last night! I expect shipping confirmation sometime today. I'll post final pics after I polyfil (waiting for that shipment too) both old and new subs and tweak the whole thing.

Polk fronts, center and surrounds and an old Sony 10in sub. Check my HT gallery for list of set-up. Thanks for all the advice. I promise to post new pics when I have everything set-up.

I didn't have to break in mine for too long. However, others report that theirs had to be broken in for a couple of days.

for as long as you can stand it!

I wouldn't worry about it too much if it were me, just give it a couple of days and a few movies at a moderate volume before you try to crank too much out of it.

It doesn't matter at all.

What does "break in" mean exactly? Give the sub light duty for a couple days to a couple weeks?

I was going to get the Polk PSW10 sub but I wanted something that I didn't need to upgrade in the future so I am going with the Acoustic Audio HD-SUB10. I think this sub will stay with me for a long time, no matter what size room my home theater is set up in.

In majority, to break in a speaker, and most notably a subwoofer, is simply to run it enough so that both the rubber surround and "spider" support relax a bit from their freshly manufactured condition. This "braking in" causes the driver to be able to obtain its maximum excursion (movement) most easily and efficiently, trasnlating to higher and more robust output.

There is no prescribed "break in" period, but some suggest going a little lighter on the volume for the first few hours of use. After a week or so of general use, your subwoofer will be broken in, and you may notice an audible improvement in its output.

I noticed that my Polk Audio PSW125 sub's sound became a bit more full after a couple weeks. I believe that, as far as subwoofers go, there is real credibility to breaking in the driver than just theory.

I recently purchased the Jamo 300, so far have mixed reactions. Not as loud or noticable as I was hoping. But it does go fairly low and for $250 I can't argue. I haven't calibrated or fiddled with my amp yet so there's still hope that I can change that.

Can someone direct me to the proper place to help me fiddle with the sub settings? I have no clue have the frequency or knobs on the back do. And would like to learn.

I haven't gotten around to reading all 74 pages yet (great reading by the way) but was wondering if anyone has hooked up the sub-10 or 12 at the speaker line level? I've got a rcvr that doesn't have a sub out. All I've seen are people hooking it up via coax thru sub out. Thanks in advance.
