this is a movie that people seem to love or hate-- my wife didn't like it at all and said "it's a guy movie"...

I thought it was great -- I've seen it twice and was equally impressed both times-- the cast was first rate and I felt it was a super mix of drama and comedy--

Always loved this movie, consider it to be the best Robin Hood movie to date, also the hottest Maid Marian ever.
I was close to purchasing this at walmart but i picked up Master and Commander instead. Imma have to put this on my Netflix queue.

Yeah i hear allot of mixed feels too. About it being a guy movie, i think your wife is correct for the most part. Its a manly drama, the dialogue alone has "man" written all over it.

In addition what women would like
[Show spoiler]Her fiance cheating on her before the wedding "intentionally" Lying the way he did. What women would like the fact that she's being used as the last supper??

Yeah its a guy flick But i loved it though

"Man! That's tasty!"

Plot (IMDb): Two men reaching middle age with not much to show but disappointment, embark on a week long road trip through California's wine country, just as one is about to take a trip down the aisle.

My Take: This is Great film on every level. I didn't think i would enjoy this film as much as i did and im kinda curious how this movie didn't win best picture. "Million Dollar Baby" is great don't get me wrong but this film will become greater as it ages..... This movie host everything you would look for in a good movie. It has allot of humor both intelligent and direct. The emotional factor fluctuates allot to. One of the best parts of the movie to me is when Maya is describing the life cycle of wine. She got so in-depth about wine it felt like i was living through her. The movie also has allot of drama. The cinematography is great, you can tell the director is right there the entire time. I especially liked the scene when Miles was on the phone with his ex-wife, the camera angles where amazing.

Conclusion: Sideways was a shocker for sure, its a good movie will great replay value. It has comedy, drama, and like i mentioned the drama get pretty deep at times. Now that i think about it this has to be the BEST dramedy i've seen so far. Not to mention after watching this film you might wanna start wine tasting. Im thinking about going out right now and seeing what all the hype is about. Sideways is a great movie that will become greater with repeated viewings. This movie comes HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. "Smell the wine, don't be shy!"

I agree. I bought Sideways and Little Miss Sunshine at around the same time, and they both have incredible staying power for me.

That's funny, I threw caution to the wind and played it for my aged mother, and she really liked it!

Haha, yeah i agree. For me the greatness lies in any scene containing R.D.J. or T.L.J.

Awesome! I have the beautiful Criterion dvd set but will be upgrading to the Criterion blu release in February. It's an extraordinary film for people who appreciate cinema as an art form. I haven't been able to get the film out of my head because it's truly one of a kind in many ways, despite encompassing a common idea (i.e. the double). It's also endlessly deep, in that it can be looked at a number of different ways, such as socially and politically, as well as from the identity angle.

I need to see Mulhoulland Drive and Persona.

Ok, you're back in my good books. Now, did you get a chance to watch Tangled? The water animation in it is the first to beat the rat's water scenes.

The Expendibles

While I like almost all movies I see and although I like action movies as well and although I saw it with reasonable expectations, this movie was still bad IMO.

It just seemed a very average movie, I would say Direct To Video type, with the exception that some DTV movies ddo a better job in making you immersed in the movie.
While seing old folks come together was nice, this movie just didnt do it to me (this happens very rarely, I like all Stallone movie - all Rockies, Rambos).
I was not connected to the characters, fighting scenes where very shacky and not exciting.

In one word, it was a very medicore movie overall. D
What do you guys think? Am I the only one unimpressed with this movie?

I watched this last night and enjoyed it. I would say that the cast alone raised it above the DTV level.

I know but its just that I can think of at least 20 more action movies that are much better than The Expendibles.
Even the Action wasnt that impressive, not speaking about lack of any substance.

It's a pretty weak film and had a lot of "WTF, who wrote this?" moments for me. I expect a lot more from Sly.
