Dave, make this an official Dark Force release. I'd buy it.

I guess it's real. I have it. lol no idea who put it together. Not sure if the bootlegger did, or someone else did and the bootlegger is just selling it. Most of what he was selling was bootleg blus of actual movies that are oop or unreleased. Happen to notice this and couldn't resist. Was actually searching Google for something else and saw this.

Feel like it's a missed opportunity for DeFalco. Some kind of documentary. Could of been the hottest DF release of all time.

I'll have time to check it out tonight and report back what this actually is. lol

So I received my copy of Drive In #21 earlier this week and tonight I had a chance to give My Pleasure is My Business a spin and see if I could give a second opinion on it. While this is definitely a rough looking print and a little washed out, it is still a vast improvement over the vhs version, at least in picture quality. It won't win any accolades, but it is passable.

Now to the bad. Unfortunately, this is a heavily censored print. Almost all of Xaveria Hollander's nude scenes have been removed, including two sex scenes and a full frontal shot. I used my old Bare Facts video guide and a vhs rip I downloaded several months ago to corroborate this. One scene features Xaveria skinny dipping at a party followed by all the party goers eventually joining her. This scene is rather lengthy and has been completely removed. She does have a couple of brief nude scenes still intact including one at the very end of the movie, and there are other brief bits of nudity from others, so it's not 100% censored, but the bulk of what would make this film interesting to grindhouse film fans is gone. I love Dark Force and am happy to support them, but this is a most disappointing release, especially as I was really looking forward to this one.

Damn that really sucks to hear, I still am looking forward to watching and it was priced very cheap but it could be they didn’t have access to the elements that contained that extra footage.

Thanks for the warning. That kinda thing (removed nudity) makes this an absolute no-go for me.

Try to keep in mind Gotho you would have zero on this picture in HD otherwise. Remember folks the drive-in series was not created to highlight the biggest and best quality version of movies. The release was very cheaply priced on two very obscure films that would have never gotten a bluray release otherwise. Now on the other hand the next drive-in release features The Velvet Trap which is quite a bizarre movie that we did have the original 35mm camera negative and Quadroon which was made from a very good 35mm print. So quality wise a world of difference from the previous release. But I think it's time for the Dark Force board of demons to review our guideline policies for these drive-in releases. Previously very rare movies like ALL THE YOUNG WIVES and MY BUSINESS IS MY PLEASURE would get a release if all that was in existence was 35mm prints that were not in good shape, thus the drive-in grindhouse experience. But I'm afraid that's all going to have to change now.

We love the Drive-In releases, and absolutely the print quality doesn't really matter that much as it adds to the experience. Thank you for these releases Dave! The one thing that is problematic, though, is edited nudity or violence. Nudity, mostly . Because that's the reason we want to watch these (lost) films, the exploitation/grindhouse scenes. I think overall you've done a great job with these so please keep 'em coming. Also just FYI the commentary for Beast & the Vixens was terrific, keep those coming as well!

I also wanted to say I love the drive-in releases honestly more than anything alongside your 4k releases. They are very nostalgic for me and I love the dirty grindhouse filmic quality to them. I do think it's a bit sad to hear there were a couple sex scenes and nudity dropped from that release but I'm sure that a) you didn't do that on purpose or maybe didn't even know and b) if that dude didn't say anything I wouldn't have even known lol. And if it's the option of either release it with the cuts or not release at all, I'd always vote for the release it option! Ya'll do some awesome work over there and I'm glad you listen to your fans but also don't ever let it change what you do for the worse!

Any chance y'all (or anyone) could do a standalone release of So Sad About Gloria?

This is well said, and I agree. Apologies Demon Dave if my post above sounded too harsh. Though I still feel the same. Nothing irks me more than releases censored for content (I know it's not Dark Force DOING the censoring), and I wouldn't be happy watching the My Pleasure Is My Business release knowing what was removed. The removed content is of the type that is the primary drawer for me to exploitation/grindhouse releases. I'd say it's more important to me than print quality. I'm well acclimated to watching releases struck from damaged prints.

I'd still buy any of the Drive-In movies I was interested in but it would but nice if there was a warning or something on the store page letting people know ahead of time that there's stuff cut out of it so we can keep our expectations in check. I'd be disappointed if I bought one of these releases thinking it was uncut and it wasn't. But if there was a warning then there's no reason to really complain

Or maybe something like
Warning: THIS IS A DRIVE-IN PRINT OF A MOVIE AND MAY NOT CONTAIN THE EXACT FILM YOU ARE FAMILIAR WITH AND MAY HAVE CONTENT MISSING COMPARED TO PAST RELEASES.

Watched Assignment Skybolt last night

It has an air of seediness throughout that pervades the film

It isn't particularly good, though not horrendous either

A cool 70s atmosphere, somewhat boring, yet compelling enough to keep watching.

Decent, though not one of my favs.

Dave do you have corrected wraps? Or if not can you post a 300dpi+ cover image we could print ourselves?

That release was never meant to have a slipcover. One of our designers who is also a street artist came up with the artsy and cool design. However simultaneously there was a printing error caused by the replicator mainly on the back of the wrap that went unnoticed due to the slip until it was too late. All the information is there and from the front it isn't very noticeable. That was one of our smallest releases but the scan was done from the original 35mm negative so it looks really good. Unfortunately all the wraps are like that but fortunately it has a really nice slipcover to go over them.

If it's a printing error from the replicator then why didn't they replace the wrap as it's their error.

Because by the time we noticed the error hundreds of them had already been shipped out all over the US and overseas. We came down on them very hard about it but if we corrected it we would have had to facilitate correction on all the ones were shipped as well. And we don't have the capacity to do that. On a small release like that we would rather pull the whole thing or leave it as is. Since it had a very nice and expensive slipcover it wasn't even supposed to have and the printing defect on the wrap isn't a very big deal to the overall release, we decided to just leave it. If there were to be a big deal made over it, we would have to immediately pull the release.
