Also, blockbusters are marketed for their visual and sound effects. They sell HD on their own. And they often come with exclusive packaging at different retailers that makes fans and collectors feel obligated to buy multiple copies of the same movie. If new release DVDs were priced appropriate to their relative quality and the effort being put into them ($10-15 max), they would sell much better. I still buy older releases on DVDs because they made some great quality sets that, HD aside, kick their Blu-ray counterparts in the teeth and are currently cheap as hell. Black Hawk Down's 3-disc set comes to mind. Great A/V quality, loaded with interesting features and docs, and has some nice packaging to top it off. Back on topic, the trilogy set is $30!! ![]() |

Is there anything different about the regular TDKR and the one that comes in the trilogy set?
Because now that the trilogy is down to $29.99 and the TDKR is $24.99 it would seem pretty stupid to not pay 5 dollars just to get the 2 extra films even if you already have them. |

It really depends what's included. I doubt I'd really care about the physical items that will be included, so it will really depend on what type of extras it'll have and also how much it'll cost. I already have BB (steelbook) and TDK (Batman mask case) so I'm not really sure I'll get the trilogy, but it's a great value.

70%+ the entire population of first week Avenger sales were on Blu-Ray. At some point studios and retailers (for most major new releases) will kill the DVD only sku and you will only be able to buy a combo pack. I suspect within the next 24 months some of the studios will do this, and then all will follow. |

So let me get this straight. Warner already confirmed they will be releasing a trilogy in December and then re-releasing yet another ultimate trilogy next year? In addition to the current versions, re-releases, steelbooks, bat cowl edition etc.?? I get that studios are all about the money, whatever. But I hope they will AT LEAST give us some remasters of BB and TDK or some insane amount of new extras in either of these future trilogy releases, my god. So many re-hashed versions.

For the UCE, is there going to be additional content on the Blu-rays themselves? Or are there just going to be extra bells and whistles for collectors?
If there is actually going to be more video content, I might try waiting for the UCE. If it's just a bunch of extra stuff that's going to take up space, I might just go for the upcoming trilogy box set, especially since it's down to $30 now. |
