Halloween (2018) - I just got back from seeing it, I loved it. As of right this second, I'd say it's my new favorite sequel in the franchise. The Shape's a badass. Laurie is a badass. I had a huge smile across my face for 2 hours. Word of advise, you may want to stay until the credits are over... ![]() |

Nothing else to say really. My favourite of all-time. Besides, I have other thoughts I need to get out of me ![]() 19/10 - Halloween (2018) ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() I loved it. Easily beats all the other sequels. I do have gripes and irks though. There was some pacing/editing issues as a result of stuff that was probably cut for time, some humour was mistimed, one character was miscast/not given enough personality IMO, there's a twist that I liked though one aspect involving that twist is just silly, and then the very ending left me wondering and a little bit unsure which is partly good and partly bad given what happens. That said, everything else was great!! Michael and Laurie both develop in logical and interesting ways, it's beautifully directed, the score is classic John Carpenter with modern rock star John Carpenter in there too, the overall story was great, the humour that worked really worked, and came from characters rather than the movie itself, the Halloween 'feel' was awesome, and it's just plain better than the other sequels and will lend itself to re-watches at this time of year but they real delivered with the traumatised Laurie and Jamie Lee's performance was ace. I'm a natural pessimist when it comes to Hollywood in general and especially with things I love, like Halloween, but they did a bang up job so I'm delighted with that. |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Dr. Sam Loomis: I want to believe you, but I have to be sure. I can't stop until I'm certain that he's dead. I'm a fan of Donald Pleasence as Dr. Loomis. His intensity and relentless obsession for stopping Myers and warning the world of his danger is fun to watch. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Myers (1988) ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Parts 4 and 5 are some of my lesser favorite entries in this franchise. 10/18:
![]() Halloween (2018) *Theatrical viewing* ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() This is the TRUE sequel to the original film. Far surpasses all the other sequels without question. Some minor flaws here and there but they served a purpose to the movie, though should've been done a little better. Jamie Lee Curtis was awesome here as was Will Patton but wished he got a little more time to spend with his character. A worthy sequel to such an iconic horror film. |

![]() ![]() 10/18 Halloween (2018) ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() What this movie does really well is gets rid of the messy mythology of the sequels, leaving nothing but a clear picture of the pure evil Michael is. Laurie is his counterpart, driven half crazy in preparation to fight him, and when that really kicks off it's the best part of the film. |

![]() ![]() House of 1000 Corpses (2003) ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() "Why, you ask? "Why" is not the question. How? Now, that is a question worth examining. How could I, being born of such, uh... conventional stock, arrive a leader of the rebellion? An escapist from a conformist world, destined to find happiness only in that which cannot be explained? I brought you here for a reason, but unfortunately you and your sentimental minds are doing me no good! My brain is frozen. Locked! I have to break free from this culture of mechanical reproductions and the thick encrustations dying on the surface! Oh, Christ. f*ck it!" ![]() ![]() #21 ![]() ![]() Disappointing sequel considering that more or less the same people made it that delivered the highly entertaining original over 20 years ago! The stories aren't as good, the political attitude is rampant and borderline obnoxious, Keith David tries hard but he's nowhere near Clarence Williams III, the ending is an inferior copy... etc etc. It's not a bad movie, I had no problem watching it on Netflix, but it's not worth owning on blu ray. |

halloween 2018 - 2.5/5
well. halloween III is still the best sequel, but this is the best sequel with michael myers? which isn't saying much because the bar is so low. I know a lot of people are going gaga over it. but it didn't really work for me. the trailers and advertising gave too much away. but the film has other problems, so even if I hadn't seen any advertising, the score would maybe only be 3/5. |

The Howling
![]() Besides the transformations scenes i don't think this movie has much going on. American Werewolf In London still is the only good werewolf film i've seen. ![]() What Have You Done to Solange? ![]() I do like that this film keeps dodging cliches but sadly the dialogue is kinda crap and the movie is pretty bland overall. It does have good OST like a lot of giallos and it look's nice but it's really not worth watching. ![]() Blood and Black Lace ![]() This is supposedly grandfather of slasher films but it hasn't aged well. Gorehounds are going to be sorely disappointed and it doesn't really offer good suspense either. It does have some Argento style coloring (or more correct would be say that Argento probably took little inspiration from this) but it's not visually interesting enough to warrant a watch. It feels way too long and it get's kinda stupid at the end. ![]() Hellraiser 2 ![]() Maybe it's because the movie almost putting me to sleep (doubt it) but this one didn't make whole lot of sense. Channar could have been interesting character but half of the movie he just has that stupid expression on his face and doesn't say anything. Cenobites almost aren't even in the movie and they don't do or say much either. As far as the effects go the movie is mostly good but otherthan that there's not really anything going for it. ![]() |
