That's about right. They do sell well and are definitely the best stuff we ever put out by far but the high cost does not substantiate it. Ever since we started doing them the cash flow has been steadily worse so the only answer is adios to the Platinum 4K line. We are putting up whatever inventory we have left on them so if you want one they will likely have value. Sadly they were the best stuff we ever released but now I can understand why Banana Man and Walt did not venture into them. I know even Vinegar Syndrome will be cutting back on them as well but not entirely...too bad.

Ya if it's hurting the business you are definitely making the right decision. Just keep on pumping out those amazing drive in double features, I love those so much and it's the primary thing that keeps me coming back for more! I have bought most of your other single releases too though lol, you put out such cool stuff.

Does this mean Terror Train and Death Ship on 4K are now DOA?

That's a real shame to hear because I love the 4K releases (and I was really looking forward to all of those previously announced titles too).
For what it's worth Dave: I have purchased every single Dark Force 4K UHD release so far on "day 1 pre-order" to help support the cause...
Well, almost every 4K. I still need to pick up Julie Darling (1983).
Do the Julie Darling (1983) 4Ks still come with a slipcover if ordered directly from the Dark Force Superstore online?
Might as well complete my collection now to appease the Dark Forces.

I'd be lying if I said I wasn't disappointed in missing out on a Death Ship UHD...but I'm all for DF remaining profitable, and if that means UHD's get the axe then so be it. We need the Dark Forces to sick around and keep releasing those cult films!

I think the random drop "Big Cartel-style" business model is not sustainable no matter who tries it.

Hopefully Dave can sub-license some of the bigger titles out to other labels for 4K

It's too bad that UHD's are out. Probably means I'm going to be out too. Frankly, I don't know what costs are, etc. But if you had to raise the price to $40, I would still pay it for a title I wanted no doubt, so that's too bad. If its a new to blu and something I want, I will purchase it. IMO, if its another blu release, that spells trouble for the dark forces. People are not going to spend money on blu re-releases. If there is a title that already has a blu, 4K or go home. If Terror Train is not going to make the leap to 4K, I'm glad I got the very good Scorpion release, along with Death Ship. But as I said, if he put out 4K's and they were $40, I would buy them. It's the last format on physical home media. Gotta finish off with the best!

Ya it sucks for sure but as long as they keep putting out those drive in double features and surprises like Texas Detour, Hundra, Fangs, etc I'll always keep buying, I love all that stuff so much!

Ninja Thunderbolt?

On pages 19 & 20 in the Neon Eagle thread, Jared explains that he was considering releasing it, but there was a very brief scene of a puppy's decapitated head in a refrigerator, so he decided not to.

Perhaps DFE would be the only ones mental enough to release it on BD...

I wonder what his problem with refrigerators is.

Oh, it must be dreadful. I wonder if there's a neglected refrigerator dying in the dark confines of his cellar right now... Poor thing never had a chance.

It also comes down to the popularity of the titles you release and how constrained your supply is of said titles.

Jared? Shouldn't this topic be in the Mondo Macabro thread? What does this have to do with Dark Force?
