Nothing at all.

But daily wash jobs are warning sign, and videotaping the wash job and watching it over and over isnt healthy.

Lol. I've seen quite a few of her movies over time since she is my dad's favorite actress. I don't have a problem with that though since I've liked most of them.

It looks like The Blind Side is your best purchase from the week of Black Friday. It's your State of Play of this year's Black Friday.

The only other movies I've seen her in are Speed (meh) and Miss Congeniality (ok).

Yea I guess it is. I've already watched it twice (and I've actually gone through all the special features which is rare for me ) so I would say its worth the $10 I grabbed it for.

I really liked Speed and Miss Congeniality, but to each their own of course.

Definitely. I haven't watched the special features yet actually, which is surprising since I have a very high opinion of the movie of course. Hopefully next time I actually make enough time to fit them in.

Way to totally ignore my last line...

Speed and Miss Congeniality each have their moments, but I'm not a fan of the films overall.

I didn't even notice it

Well, obviously since you said meh and ok for them.

I did edit that in right after I posted, so it's possible you didn't read it but it still ended up being part of the quote.

Everlasting Moments

I just watched this on cable. A few moving scenes, especially near the end, but it dragged at times. Pretty good story, but I'm glad I didn't blow $30+ on a blind buy.

Overall 3.5/5

Inception.

My second viewing so my rating is probably final.

First of all the idea and overall concept was brilliant and I always welcome a breath of freash air into current hollywood of remakes.

On the other hand, while it was a really well made movie, it lacked any heart and character development as far as I am concerned. As a result, I really didnt feel connected to the movie, it seemed too "techincal".

Once again, the concept is brilliant but as far as I am concerned this is far far far away from the best movies ever made.
I am sure its rating will go down on IMDB over time.

4.5/5

Three Colors Trilogy
Directed by Krzysztof Kieslowski

I decided to borrow all three parts of the trilogy from my local library after seeing The Double Life of Veronique recently. I sat down to watch part one yesterday, not really expecting much.

I was wrong.

The stories pulled me in and I ended up watching the entire trilogy.

Blue 4.5/5
Starring Juliette Binoche

What is it about French women and huge dark eyes? This opening story starts like a Hitchcock movie with a shot of a leaky brake cable underneath a car. Sure enough, it crashes
[Show spoiler]killing Julie's composer husband and her little girl.

Julie deals with life in the only way she knows how, desperate to feel something. Her journey is very interesting and I was drawn in almost immediately. I cared what happened to her.

White 4/5
Starring Zbigniew Zamachowski

This also starts off in Paris and we see a Polish man appearing in court. His wife wants a divorce. There's a lot of humor in this tale as he travels back to Poland and plots how to get even with his wife. Some of the events are bizarre, others funny, a few sad. The time races by.

Red 5/5
Starring Irène Jacob

This is the best of a very strong trilogy and is set in Geneva. It plays as a mystery and stars the incredibly beautiful and talented Irène Jacob (The Double Life of Veronique). She runs over a dog and it fully recovers. She meets the owner and a series of strange events occur. There's a lot of emotion as she is initially disgusted before developing an understanding with the owner. There are many deep themes running through this one and the closing scenes tie the whole trilogy together brilliantly.

It's available in France as part of a set which also includes The Double Life of Veronique (Region B). I was tempted until reading a recent review which says the transfer is weak and only 1080i.

If Criterion gets hold of this trilogy to complement February's release of Veronique, I'll snap it up in an instant.

This is a great trilogy for Criterion fans, as well as those who liked The Double Life of Veronique and Irène Jacob's performance in that. I've been thinking about it all day.

The Proposal

This is a pretty complex and mind bending movie. Oh wait, sorry, no its not

If you've seen a single romantic comedy then you know the basic outline of about 90% of them. Just about all of them, no matter which ones or what the differences in the actual stories are, hit on a few key plot points along the way and this one is no exception. So there's no sense in going over that any farther.

I'm not particularly a fan of romantic comedies. I don't watch them that often for that reason, but when I do watch them the majority fall around 3/5 or lower on average with some exceptions. This one being one of those.

Now its not that the movie itself is insanely better than most romantic comedy; though, in my opinion, it is quite a bit better than all of them that I've seen (which is admittedly not really THAT many since, like I said, its not a genre I'm particularly fond of as a whole).

It's the two leads in this one that really elevates it for me.

Ryan Reynolds is one of the funniest actors I have ever seen. He's got incredible comic timing and ability, I can bust out laughing at almost anything he says because of his delivery. He has some serious moments in this movie for me but the top two are when he
[Show spoiler]sings It Takes Two in that high pitched voice
and during the credits when the guy asks him the question about the sides of the bed

Besides the laughs though, he does a good job with the other material he has in the film.

Without him I'd probably give the movie a 3.75/5, still better than most romantic comedies on my score list, but it would be behind the Bearcat approved 500 Days of Summer which I gave a 4/5.

Bullock isn't as strong as he is at comedy in my opinion, but she does pretty good herself and works very well with him for some laughs and also handles her non-comedy material well in the movie.

There's some other laughs from the supporting cast but only a few.

I wouldn't buy the movie; that would be pushing it
But when I see it on an HD channel or my friends want to watch it, I'm usually up for it

Rating - 4.25/5

Home Alone 2: Lost in New York

watched this on abc family earlier today. love this movie. very, very funny

i still prefer the original though, because in terms of being "realistic" the first is MUCH more believable than this one. the New York setting is nice, but Kevin at home was much more entertaining and seemed logically real since he knows his house much more than an abandoned house he's spent 5 hours with in New York. and the whole getting a hotel room by himself and whatnot was also funny, but kind of laugh because it's so ridiculous. it's one thing for the robbers to be dumb, but everyone in New York City as well?

BUT! this movie contains one of the best lines of dialogue ever by Marv:
"suck brick, kid!"

and Marv alone is reason enough to see this movie.
on a side note, i thought they definitely should have had Daniel Stern (Marv) be a relative of Kramer's (from Seinfeld) in a few episodes. that would have been great to see since their mannerisms are very much alike between these two characters

a great Christmas movie. and they never should have made a third and a fourth film

I'll have to DVR it next time it and the first one plays. I haven't seen them in several years.

Yea a 4/5 is a GREAT score for a romantic comedy for me.

Bearcat, you definitely should give Inception a shot. It's a pretty cool film and I think you'll at least somewhat enjoy it, if not more. Plus it's got a great cast and a pretty interesting story (even if you already know it).
