Very highly recommended.
Thanks, this helped...

I made up my mind to pick this up. I almost did today but then decided to pick up 'The 400 Blows' instead because the dual format is OOP (I know new blu only version coming early next year) and only 2 of my nearest 7-8 stores had it.

Kieslowski has sealed his place in my top 5 directors.

Picked up the Zatoichi set and McCabe & Mrs Miller from the B&N sale. Still want to pick up Dreams on the 15th and hopefully The Player will still be in stock then too.

yes this was used for the animated menus for the French/Ocean/TF1 DVD release and I'm dying to see Shu Qui in a HD transfer (blu-ray or HDTV) of these (Millenium Mambo, and Three Times...(I'm a huge fan of Demis Roussos)
is there some hope of a Criterion release or...a blu-ray release... somewhere... on Earth ?

Fortunately the Assassin came out on blu-ray... But Millenium Mambo... (was probably a huge influence on "Lost In Translation" (one of my other fav' movies of all times... kind of Sofia Coppola Nelly and Monsieur Arnaud...)

That was one hell of a game. Wasn't rooting for either team, but there's nothing better in sports than game 7 of the World Series. So much damn tension.

I used a printable 15%-off-one-item for Dekalog yesterday (at not my usual store), and it looked like the cashier had a bit of a problem with it, but she managed to get it accepted. So, end up paying $38.25. I'll see if one of my two other ones will work at my local store for the del Toro box.

Huge Indians fan here. Tough morning but proud they fought so hard. Not bad for a team who was missing their best player (Michael Brantley) and two of their three top starting pitchers. Congrats to Cubs fans!

To keep on topic gonna watch Pan's Labyrinth tonight. I hope it's a worthy upgrade.

Yankees fan here hoping we get Chapman back. Great game though, no worries man. Indians will be back, team will be intact and weak division. They remind me of the royals

I was told by a cashier at my B&N that representatives from Criterion specifically asked them not to honor any coupons during their sale. I guess it depends on the store or the cashier you're dealing with when you get to the counter, because my cashier didn't have a clue until her fellow co-worker told her.

Why would Criterion tell them not to honour vouchers...?

thanks, jw! baseball is second only to my love of film. It hasn't sunk in yet, I think, because I'm still in a bit of shock after the 8th inning.

I'm actually happy the season is over, though, because I haven't watched a movie in several weeks. I've added some great westerns to my collection that I've never seen and will have added about a half dozen or so new CC titles as well as soon as I can wind down and head over to the B&N site.

Bring on movie watching season! ...and woo-hoo! Cubbies!!

Read around some places that B&N has shipped out re-wrapped criterions in the past, can anyone here that took part in past sales confirm that?

^ Thanks for the info! I dont mind getting a re-wrapped copy just as long as the booklet/case/disk are in mint condition.

If the agreement between CC and B&N on these sales is such that the impact on revenue is 50-50, Criterion might not want to take an additional hit from customers using coupons to reduce that revenue.

I like getting an additional discount as much as the next guy, but truth be told, getting 50% off (plus an additional 10% from my membership) should be enough. If they won't accept the coupons for Criterions during these 50% off sales, that's fine with me. I'll use the coupons for something else. It's not like Criterions are the only thing I buy at B&N.
