All eight Epic Earth documentaries are 25% off through this month: $6 for two-day streaming rentals, $11 for weeklong download rentals, and $22 for download purchases. I'd avoided this app until now since I was hoping for sales. The prices are still high, but I suppose this is the lowest they'll go, so I've purchased all eight.

"Everest," while only 2D, is available in 4K only in this app. It was remastered in 16K in 2022.

"Humpback Whales" is on 3D and 4K Blu-ray but is strangely still available only in 4K 2D in the app. (This is the only one of the eight which doesn't have its best home presentation in the Epic Earth app, but I bought it in the hope that it will be upgraded to 4K 3D at some point.)

The other six are in 4K 3D exclusively through this app.

Also, the ten-minute stereoscopic fulldome short "Solar System" has recently been added to Theater for $10 streaming purchase or $2.50 streaming rental. Several free flat fulldome shows have also been added.

Does anyone know of a review site or youtube channel that does reviews of the 3D quality of whats available on the AVP? There are some tech review sites that focus on AVP, but I'm looking for a place that reviews the 3D quality of movies on the AVP. Some are clearly better than others with regard to pop outs and effects as well as great depth etc. I have been unsuccessful in finding anything like this.

No but pretty much every 3D movie has a thread dedicated to it so you can just look up the movie to see reviews.

If a film has great depth and pop outs on the AVP it will be similarly impressive on 3D Blu-ray.

Or you could ask in the general "best" threads, they've been a bit quiet recently but you will definitely get a response there, we have a few AVP owners who I am sure will reply:

I would have totally agreed with you up until recently because 3D movies look great on my old Quest OLED. But it's not "similarly impressive" to the PFD which use similar micro OLED panels to the AVP. It's not even close. An LG 4K OLED TV and laser projectors? Yes. But for everything else YMMV.

So I would say it's the other way around. If a movie has great depth and pop outs on 3D blu-ray then it will be at least as impressive on the AVP/PFD. But maybe this is what you meant anyway?

Seems like a new version of Apple Vision Pro will be announced on Tuesday.

I would really like to get one but I think they have a long way to go to make it competitive with the Quest 3 which is wireless and has a reasonable price.

It's for 2027.

Its the "stripped down" Vision Air, rumors says it will cost less than half of what the PRO is. As long as they don't compromise in screen resolution then it is fine with me, i only want it for movies anyways.

Apple Vision Air and Apple Vision Pro 2 will be released in 2027 if I read correctly.

I'm definitely more interested in the air version because the clunky design and high price are the things I like least about the current model.

I'm fine with my Quest 3 for what it is but I would love to upgrade when Apple makes a compelling version of this.

I have 1470 movies in iTunes and I don't need them to be 3D to enjoy them in the headset. This could be a great product they just need to make a much better version of it.
