only downside for me is the lack of digital copy, but i like the anthology as it comes in a regular blu-ray case and not one of the book type packaging like jurassic park came in. but i only owned the original mad max, so this worked perfect for me.

Thanks for sharing. Even though I skipped out on the steelbook for it's exclusion of the 3D version, it would have been my choice if I was only going 2D. Out of all the posters for FR, that was one of the better ones. My personal favorite was this one though.

Not perfect but it does have a bit of a retro feel, conveys the action aspect and has the main characters front and center.

I think it would be cheaper to buy separately. However, you would not get the bonus disc with the 2+ hour making of the original Mad Max. Personally, that is very enticing to me. Otherwise, I would buy individually.

The Anthology includes the recently made documentary on the original Mad Max. You could get them seperate if you want but the documentary on disc is only in the set. Want that documentary without the set? Got to buy it digitally, for now, in the US.

And buying the Anthology at Amazon is slightly cheaper than buying them seperate:

Mad Max (MGM) - $12
The Road Warrior - $10
Beyond Thunderdome - $8
Fury Road - $22

Total is $52 for the movies, add in the digital purchase of the documentary at $10 and your at ~$62 total for everything in the set.

Of course, your $22 Fury Road seperate purchase includes a DVD and digital copy. And you can choose either Scream's Mad Max or MGM's Mad Max release when you opt away from the set.

Tough choice but had to go Steel Book over 3D. Liked the artwork way to much to pass it up. I'll prob end up getting the 3d disc down the line somewhere if the reviews say it's worth it. BTW best buy over by me only had 2 steel books.

So I am stuck at work all day today so my loving wife went to Best Buy at 10 a.m. when the doors opened and grabbed me a steelbook even though she had no clue what it was until I educated her. She said they had three and they were still in the box in the back of the store. I would say I lucked out.

Well, Amazon decided that I didn't need my pre-orders today, which includes Mad Max: Fury Road. According to my account, it's not scheduled to be delivered until September 8. I'm a Prime member and not exactly happy. I was planning to watch it tonight. Never had this happen before. Gonna have to contact them after work.

They had no steel books or they were sold out. Only two 3D copies left (one was ripped) and about three regular editions. Didn't even look at the DVD one. Was this not shipped with enough? I've never seen a film have such low stock before. I guess the employees could just not be restocking. I picked up the 3D version that wasn't torn. Sucks though. Wanted the steel book but I'm not playing Best Buys stock game anymore. I'll just live with what I have.

Shouldn't have any issue not getting one since it just got released.

Question

Still weighing my options.

Thanks to Stinging Velvet for the Steelbook pics a page or so back. Anyone have pics of the Target version w/ comics?

Also debating on the Anthology. I already have the tin of 1 - 3, and the Scream CE of 1. Any hard info on what's on the bonus disc? How long is the making-of doc? Also, WB Shop lists art cards, but they're not listed on the back cover @ Amazon. An exclusive?

Ah consistency! What a Lovely Thing! As additional Best Buy horror stories pour in regarding the "Fury Road" steelbook challenge, I must share my NOT unexpected dealings with my local Best Buy brain trust this morning. I dutifully ordered the steelbook via the pre-purchase card back on day one and shared that gut-wrenching experience on this forum. I had noted how absolutely clueless the entire sales team and management was at that time regarding their own promotions and advertisements, but still managed to reserve (I hoped) the precious steelbook prize. Fast forward to this morning at the opening bell. With pre-purchase card and receipt in hand I proceeded directly to customer service and presented my cheerful clerk with the required credentials. The wheels stared falling off immediately. The young lady examined my paperwork with that famous Best Buy vacant stare, asked what this was for (not kidding), and replied after I explained, "This hasn't been released yet." Off to the races. Not only is it released today I replied, and here it is plainly advertised on your weekly sales flier (which was stacked right in front of her, and I had to show her the page!)! More befuddled looks and on to the computer for 5 minutes of typing, me patiently tapping fingers in growing frustration, until the store manager showed up offering to help. Again, a full explanation, more befuddled looks and careful examination of all paperwork, and off to the "back room" to check. The manager showed up after about 5 minutes with all 8 of the store's steelbook allotment, none of which had been saved for the pre-purchase crowd, or even stocked on the shelves! Most of them were pretty marred up, so at least was able to cherry pick the only pristine copy. Before leaving with my treasure, I kindly suggested a little staff training on new products and promotions might prove beneficial to all concerned. Good luck to all, and thanks for letting me share my "Lovely Day!"

Well I just left Best Buy. I had every intention of buying the 3D pack today, as it has my favorite cover art out of all of them. But when I got there, none of the slipcovers were in good shape. They were all either bent up, dinged up, and some were even ripped up. It's always hard for me to find good slips when they're lenticular. So I went with the 2D set.

They had 2 steelbooks left when I was there. I'm not a big steelbook fan, even though I love that cover art. I figured I'd let the 2 that were still there for people that would rather have a steelbook than the standard sets. But oh well, it's still the same movie inside. Plus, I saved myself about $7 by going with the 2D, so I can't be too upset.
