Of course it will be an AA Sub, but I will have to look at the AA 10 inch subs and see if they Have both the 10 inch Audophile Sub and the 10 inch HD Sub.

Other then one being a down firing sub and the other being a forward firing sub is there a performance difference?
The HD subs have more powerful amplifiers, come in three colors, and have slightly better low frequency extension. Of course, they are a bit more expensive.

Two 12" down-firing subs isn't a bad idea.

Just wondering something. I don't know about all receivers but mine only has one sub out on it. So if your running 2 subs would u need 2 ( 2 male- 1 female ) y adapters for the subs and 1 ( 1 male - 2 female ) RCA for the receiver?

Or just one y adapter for the receiver then run one sub RCA at left channel and one right channel ( so just a single RCA into the subs amp) ??

To connect two subwoofers to the receiver, you need a Y adapter (1 male, 2 female) and two long RCA subwoofer cables. You connect the Y adapter to the sub output of the receiver and the two sub cables to the female side of the Y adapter.

The Y adapter (2 male, 1 female) is for attaching the sub cable coming out of the receiver to both the left and right inputs on the back of the subwoofer. For many subwoofer, you will get 3 to 6 dB of additional output.

Read A Guide to Bass Management. All of this is explained there. Also, look at Post #2 in that thread for all the links for cables.

That is OK. However, if you use a Y adapter (2 male, 1 female) and connect the cable to both the left and right inputs on the back of the sub, you may get additional output out of the sub. A Y adapter only costs a couple of dollars.

Ok so in total I would need 3 y adapters? One for the amp and 2 ( 1female - 2 male adapers for the subs? Just wanted to make sure. Cuz it seems obvious when only running one sub to use a y to get both left and right channels going to that sub. But in the case of having 2 subs I didn't know if you could just y off the receiver and one RCA to the right input on one sub and another RCA to the left on the other sub

Yes, for two subwoofers, you need thre Y adapters.

Default New to Acoustic Audio, Hope they Blow me Away

Just won a new HD-SUB10 with maple finish on eBay for about $77 shipped. I wanted a 15" but it's just more than I am willing to pay at this time. If this 10" is good then I will be getting another to have a pair for my home theater. Also I will want to eventually get a couple (most likely 15" versions) to compliment my vintage Klipsch La Scala speakers I have in my home office. Hopefully my shipment arrives quickly and undamaged! Fantastic thread BTW!

Are you sure it is the HD-SUB10 and not the down-firing PSW or RW models? $77 is an amazing price for HD-SUB10. It is less than half of the normal discounted price.

Thumbs up A New owner of a HD-Sub10

Thanks for all the reviews & opinions of the HD-sub series. Recently won a bid on a cherry HD-sub10, & what a steal it was for under $100. Added a whole new dimesion that i was missing out on!!!

Had no cosmetic flaws either, couldn't be happier with my purchase!!!

I guess my original reply didn't go through, but yes I am sure it is the HD-SUB10. I jumped on it because the price was very low for being so late in the auction. I was just at the right place at the right time I guess.

I will add your name to the list of owners. What other speakers do you have?

Congratulations again. It is an unbelievable price. We should all go on Ebay and bid, even if we own multiple subwoofers.

I will add your name to the list of owners in Post #1.

Big Daddy, would 2 down-firing 8 inch subs out perform either or both, Bose Acoustimass Sub and/or Polk PSW10?

I have never personally heard the Acoustimass sub, but I have heard the PSW10 and it isn't very powerful nor does it get very low (35hz), You may find that the RW-8 sub will get lower(25hz) and with duals you will get better bass coverage. I have always felt that two 8" subs work well. especially in small to mid size rooms.

I agree completely with callas. That PSW10 only has 50 watts of continuous power, which is hardly anything at all, plus as callas stated it only gets down to 35hz (probably more like 40hz as specs are usually inflated a bit.) I have 2 subs and you get much more even bass response and a reduction in any bass voids in the room. Plus, they can get down a lot lower than the PSW10.

Hey man, thanks for the info. Only reason I asked about Bose is because I've had the Lifestyle 38 for 5 years and I have been planning on upgrading for the past couple months since I bought a Blu ray player. But I am on a tight budget. I am looking for quality, reasonably priced.
