Also weird that the "characters featurette" is on the 2nd movie box set. How can they put that on when Deathly hollows has not even been released yet in cinemas it will contain massive spoilers for movie 3-8.
How do you know about the scenes? Example of a few?

Not likely. Seems that every time a new Harry Potter film came out, WB would put together a new incomplete boxset. They never made other incomplete sets to compliment the earlier incomplete set. Don't expect to ever see 6, 7, and 8 together by themselves to complement the sets of 1-5.

I'm so glad I waited and didnt buy the year 1-5 pack, like I started to do a couple times. The only one I own on blu is "HP: OotP "and the others I still have on regular dvd, so this december I can replace the first two dvd's with these two. And I will probably double dip on the "HP: HBP" getting the regular Blu-ray version this year and the Ultimate when its released down the road. Thanks for the heads up.

Collider.com has the back art for the Ultimate Editions that give clear information on the specs.

Disc One houses the two cuts with only the theatrical cut getting the "In Movie Experience". Both cuts will have DTS-HD Master Audio.

Disc Two is for the new documentary and new featurettes.

Disc Three is for the previous special features.

But where are they saying there will be a Box Set and a Non-Box Set? From what I understand, there's gonna be 2 Box Sets (DVD & BD) and THAT'S IT, right?

Has there been any word on the HBP ultimate edition box? Because I never double dip but I wanted all 8 harry movies in the ultimate edition box. But don't want to wait a year or two for the HBP.

All 8 films will be getting the "Ultimate" treatment so Years 3-6 will probably be out sometime next year. I'll probably be double dipping HBP (the one coming out in Dec. and the UE next year.)

detective,

The trailer for the ultimate box sets of Sorcerer's Stone and Chamber of Secrets mentions ultimate box sets for the rest of the film coming soon.

More than likely, the ultimate box set for Half-Blood Prince will come out either when Deathly Part I hits the theatres in November of next year or when Deathly Hallows Part I hits home video in March of 2011...(given how WB has released the Potter films in the theatre and home video).

i have seen pictures of deleted scenes of snapes past from OOTP and i have seen some other shots particular from OOTP. That was not on the DVD/Blu Ray. So there is definetely many important scenes they can put on the ultimate editions. Also heard they cut 1 hour of footage form HBP so there is much stuff they can ad to movie 5 and 6 at least. i bet there is more for movie 3 and 4 hidden in the cellars of warner studios

I hope these get a UK release! really looking forward to these...let's just hope they are ULTIMATE EDITIONS! There is nothing more annoying than studios re-releasing material with extra stuff on top! (James Bond anyone?)

Interesting. I will probably hold off. UE's will be replaced with a super ULTIMATE RARE EDITION MEGA box set when it's all said and done with.

I'm slightly disappointed that they wont be releasing Deathly Hallows as one Ultimate Edition box set.

Default DTS-HD MA, but is it 24-bit?

Is there any information on if these will be 24-bit audio tracks? I can't wait to hear the score in full 24-bit. Also, will they be re-encoding the video? The original blurays (which I avoided purchasing) had PCM tracks that took up much more space on the disc. I hope they re-encode the video to hit higher bitrates to take advantage of the smaller size of the DTS audio.

I'm really excited to see some of the footage they shot for 3-5 finally make it into the films. OOtP (#5) was a total disaster story-wise, and made no sense whatsoever. I actually yelled out "bullshit!" in the theatre when Harry started to hand over the prophecy.

I hope the extra footage allows them to correct some of the other story/editing butchering they did.
