Silver Linings Playbook was a terrific film, and he received an Oscar nomination for it.

Machete
Stone
Killer Elite
Limitless
Freelancers
Silver Linings Playbook
The Family

Those are ones I liked (haven't seen Killing Season or Last Vegas yet, they look okay).

I see your point though, the only really, really good one of those is Killer Elite.

The last time I thoroughly, actively, loved a film with De Niro starring may have been as far back as 1998's Ronin.

That being said, The Irishman is now again listed on De Niro's Filmography page on Wikipedia, so there's always hope.

I'm really looking forward to seeing this. Huge fan of dicaprio and Jonah hill. Lot of good movies coming out on Christmas. This, 47 ronin, grudge match and the secret life of Walter Mitty. I'm kinda glad that the jack Ryan movie got pushed back to January.

Why, that I loved Killer Elite, or that I did not mention Silver Linings Playbook in the same breath? I do love both, but, yeah, I think I'll for Killer Elite as De Niro's best role of the 2010s so far.

And yeah, I pride myself on being crazy (which is to say, having utterly incomprehensible and seemingly arbitrary opinions; it's fun).

hell yeah:

"the official running time of Scorsese and Leonardo DiCaprio’s dark “Wall Street” comedy is a howling 2 hours and 59 minutes, the longest film of Scorsese’s career."

^ it will certainly be close to his longest as Casino is about the same length and that is my favorite Scorsese film.

Wow. Looks like Scorsese is quite the smartass in dealing with Paramount's rumored "under 3 hours" demand.

'Wolf of Wall Street' Avoids NC-17 After Sex Cuts

Director Martin Scorsese's The Wolf Street of Wall Street has garnered an R rating -- instead of the dreaded NC-17 -- after the filmmaker agreed to trim certain nudity and sex scenes, insiders confirm to The Hollywood Reporter.

Initially, the Classification and Ratings Administration Board indicated that Wolf of Wall Street, starring Leonardo DiCaprio as disgraced Wall Street broker and hedonistic party boy Jordan Belfort, was destined for the more restrictive rating because of abundant, explicit sex (not to mention drugs).

Scorsese and Paramount, which is distributing the movie in North America, had several exchanges with the ratings board in terms of what was needed to secure an R rating, sources say, although it wasn't immediately clear what was edited out.

I have conflicted feelings about this. First, the movie trimmed to 2 hours 59 minutes in an apparent attempt to stay under the 3-hour hard limit. Now we hear the movie has been censored to avoid the NC-17 rating. Now if this were any other director, I wouldn't fret so much. An unrated, extended director's cut would've been inevitable for release on home video. But this is Martin Scorsese, and he seems old school. As far as I know, he's never made alterations for the home video versions of his theatrical films.

The uncensored and possibly longer version may never see the light of day.

It is 2 hours and 59 minutes after the rating stuff though, right?

I'm still waiting for the extended cut of Gangs of New York.

So originally Thelma Schoonmaker said that this was going to be shot digitally, but all the behind the scenes footage I've seen shows film cameras being used??? I guess Scorsese got his way with that too than!

This might very well turn out to be my favourite Scorsese movie.
I think Goodfellas is alright and I find The Departed to be overrated.
As of now, Taxi Driver is my favourite - but this look so fun.
