Why don't we wait until someone has the disc before passing judgement. The back of the box has been wrong before. I looked for Equilibrium and FDTD at both Best Buy and Target with no luck. Not that I really expected to see either.

I agree. I want someone to actually look at a 16:9 display to confirm whether this release is 2.35:1 or 1.78:1.

hard to believe not one person has actually posted after watching the actual disc.
I tried to search for a post anywhere on the internet confirming the aspect ratio, but alas met with failure.
(I feel very confident it will not be OAR)

There are actually 2 user reviews on this site, but only one is from somebody who actually watched the disc. It seems the other person just posted their review after reading the back of the case. So, who really knows if the audio is 2.0 or not yet, but it does seem to not be OAR again. Not a big deal to me at all, but if the audio is really 2.0, then I'll just get the Alliance release at some point.

Judging from the other Echo Bridge reviews, this release of Equibrillium is going to suck! Horrible transfer, wrong aspect ratio, cruddy sound and little to no extras... Screw you Echo Bridge!

By the user reviews, it seems to be the same transfer as the alliance. Its not OAR

My copy will arrive from Amazon today. I can post a review of the picture and audio quality, even though I am not the best reviewer. However, I would like to know if the audio is 2.0 or not, because if I do not even get surround sound, I am going to return the disk. Aspect ratio is less important to me. I heard that the 1.78 is open-matted (i.e. that it was filmed 1.78 and then matted to 2.35 for theatrical release). But I don't know that that is true

If it's anything like the Alliance disc (and I believe the UK disc as well) the main movie will be Open-Matted, while any scene with CGI will be cropped.

Can't believe this is that hard to find as there are no stores around me that have it. And why would they only do 2.0.. this HAS to be a mistake.. hoping this HAS to be a mistake otherwise who the hell would buy this crap. One of the few movies I will keep on DVD then if that is the case... So beside Live Free Die Hard.. Equilibrium would be the 2nd movie I would prefer to have on DVD over blu.. sad.

we ended up caving on the japanese release a few months ago... it was worth it because the VQ & SQ are really nice. would be nice if the u.s. could do the same :-(

i thought about it but couldn't bring myself to pulling the trigger....not @ that price anyway.

A guy on highdefdigest posted that it's not OAR, it's 1.78, and confirmed the audio is only 2.0.

Complete shite. It's 1.78:1 and only has a 2.0 soundtrack. I'm sending mine back.

I didn't have high hopes, and it looks like I'll be sticking with my Polish BD - it's also only 1.78 but very decent PQ, and at least it has 5.1 PCM audio.

I seriously don't understand the audio thing, the DVD is 5.1 audio, they could at least include the DVD audio track, but they downmix it to a 2.0 on the BD?!?! WTF is up with that...

Wow that is rather unimpressive. I guess this just puts us in our places for badmouthing the Alliance releases so much over the years, if we then manage to do significantly worse here in the US.
