I've heard of 10 of those films, watched 2 of them, and only recognised him in one, and I will to bet that if I asked my media group who played Nite Owl in Watchmen, they wouldn't be able to give me an answer without looking it up.

There's no need for another Scream movie. Its the same as the Saw, FD, Halloween & Friday 13th franchises. Every 'sequel' is basically the same as the original but with a slightly different coat of paint.

I don't mind the Scream movies but c'mon, enough is enough. The only thing that would make it refreshing would be to have it set in space (eh Jason, eh!)

Also, whatever way they shot Scre4m, it just didn't feel like a Scream movie for me.
Colours were dull etc
Regardless of what I think, there is a very real chance that 5cream will be made!

Side note: Patrick Wilson is not well known and Watchmen sucked a$$ (my opinion)

Did this just turn into a Patrick Wilson thread? Maybe it's a sign that he'll be in Scream 5. Maybe as Sidney's love interest?

I love Patrick Wilson but I don't think he's that well known. My favourite role of his is in Hard Candy.

Just saw they're making a 3D Halloween and a 3D Texas Chainsaw Massacre, AND a 3D version of Friday The 13th Part 2... Unbelievable, I really hope Scream 5 happens soon, to save the slasher genre, and please don't make it in 3D. That will ruin the movie.

Thats what i posted in the Scream 4 Blu-ray thread. If they turn it 3d it will definitely kill the franchise for me.

I think he's great but he is not a household name. His new TV series, A Gifted Man, might help (or maybe not since it looks like crap) but he's got a long way to go before he opens pictures with his name alone.

I'm not so sure. Since 3D has recently become the go to gimmick for horror movies, Scream could easily play that into their deconstruction of the genre.

I think if used creatively, 3D could be perfectly acceptable with Scream.

This is not to say that I wouldn't be thrilled with a flat Scream 5 and 6.

Dimension's twitter page just tweeted:

Which Dimension Films sequel are you most looking forward to? #Piranha3DD, #ScaryMovie5, #HalloweenIII , #Scream5

They seem to think a Scream 5 is happening.

Also, on November 28th, Kevin Williamson tweeted:

Delivered the script. I think a fake tan is in order.

Hmmm... will we be seeing Scream 5 in 2013?

Cool news on the twitter part.

Though I believe the script that Kevin turned in was for his new Serial Killer show and not Scream 5.

Did the home video release for 4 sell enough to justify a sequel? Don't get me wrong, the fourth film was half a notch below the original and definitely the best of the sequels but whether it made money or it didn't, I thought it was a nice one off that didn't need another one or two sequels to follow.

The Weinstens have said they are doing a sequel regardless of earnings.

I think the Weinsteins talked about wanting a sequel before the home video release. It's their biggest horror franchise.

Part 4 was conceived as the first of a new trilogy, so...

I'd have believed it if Emma Roberts had survived and they'd done something original. But a sequel after the fourth would feel forced.

If there enough recouping from box office and home dvd/blu ray sales then im sure they will think of a story that's good enough,
the third one was quite out there so ............

With just DVD purchases, it has sold 200,000+ units for $3.3 million.

Blu ray sales and rentals are not included in this total.

WW box office is around $96 million

so we are looking at $100+ (probably $110+ including blu ray/rentals/etc) on a movie that cost $40 million to produce and probably another $20-30 million for promotion, etc. $60-70 million total...so they made a good $30-40 million profit easily

With those totals and in the weak financial state the Weinstein Company is in, I wouldn't consider moving forward with a fifth film unless the budget stayed the same or was slashed a couple of million.

Those numbers are pretty weak for a rival, especially since other nostalgia projects which had more to lose performed better compared this.
