It's a well made slasher movie, but there no scene that stands out as being particularly scary or memorable imo.
Its probably the mask. . . .

I haven't seen H20 in its entirety, but I do know they were using multiple masks and even a CG one!

Yeah it's great until you start watching part 5 and realize they basically ignore everything that happened at the end of part 4.

I feel like they missed a big opportunity there.

...Jamie teaming up with her beloved Uncle Michael would've been epic.

Some of it is the acting--the lady who played Rachel is pretty bland.

Some of it is the kills--which aren't very creative or brutal imo.

9/21 - The Mephisto Waltz (1971) - A moody / atmospheric occult thriller that perfectly sets the tone for my Halloween film festival.

9/22 - Let's Scare Jessica to Death (1971) - Another early '70s occult thriller to set the mood.

9/23 - The Shuttered Room (1967) - Great moody and atmospheric Gothic horror film.

9/24 - The Abominable Dr Phibes (1971) - Nuff' said!

9/24 - The Lords of Salem

Enjoyed the way this starts out, really good with the outdoor autumn cinematography & the ambiance & great pacing. Then it picks up to much in bizarro world for my taste. This movie could have been so much more then it turned out.

I think it all falls under the direction.

I mean, same script and John Carpenter = GOLD!! I feel like the direction lets it down. That actually goes for all the non-Carpenter sequels. The lack of blue hue, rising tension and music can all be attributed to John Carpenter's absence IMO!

The H20 mask committed the cardinal sin of showing way too much of Michael Meyer's eyes.

...it was the soulless black-holed eyes that made him look so evil.

Drive Thru* -

Going in, I didn't expect this movie to be spectacular. But this isn't even one of those "so bad it's good". For the movie about a killer clown, it's really quite boring. The story is as clichéd as can be and there is just too much time in between killings. Plus, for a movie called Drive Thru, most of the movie takes place outside the restaurant. The only real positive thing I can say is that the kills were over-the-top and gory and were, by far, the best part of the movie.

CATACOMBS

Another low budget (but looks pretty good considering) C-grade title from Scream.. a bit on the slow side for the first half, picks up towards the end, and then disappoints a bit with the silly make-up effects of the final demon...

I haven't seen either of these and the blu ray is sitting in my chart with scream factory... making me think about removing it now.

9/24 - Strip Nude for Your Killer -
-Good Atmosphere, keeps the tension up for about 45 mins, then starts to drag a bit. A LOT of random nudity. Overall, I liked it, about middle of the road giallo. stars Edwige Fenech, so that makes if alright in my book.
