Question Is this more confirmation of Warner going Blu

Wow.......Mike Dunn president of fox made the following comment

Quote:
"The table is probably set for high-def in 2008,” says Dunn. “I think by CES it will be pretty clear there will be one format.”

I love Fox. They are a major reason I am Blu as over 25% of my DVD catalog is Fox. Mike Dunn is also quite a trip with all the tough talk about Blu Ray, etc, etc.

That being said, and again I love Fox, Fox has been a LOT of talk. I say to Fox. Good job. Glad you're releasing on Blu w/ AVC and DTS-MA. Glad you got your content "secure", glad you're using BD-J. NOW, no more excuses...show me about 80-100 titles from Fox in HD exclusively on BD in 2008 and I'll be one happy camper.

My next Fox title: Master and Commander on Feb 5, 2008.

I got to agree.....although my number one is not fox.
buena vista/disney is 54% in my collection, followed by equal 11% for both FOX and warner. then comes Sony, followed by para/dreamworks and uni.

just realised that I actually only have 1 paramount title (excluding dreamworks)

Just to be clear, I was talking about my DVD collection, not my BD collection. I think part of any decision process must include a hard look at what studios have the most films you enjoy. I did this in mid-2006, and to my surprise out of my over 400 DVDs, Fox had over 100. I don't know why, but for some reason Fox just has a LOT of my favorite all time movies. I took this info and saw which way the studios lined up (yes, f*ck you Paramount and Alan Bell if you're reading this by chance). It was clear with the tech specs, the PS3, the industry support, and the studio alignment that BD wasn't going away any time soon and that most of the movies I liked would be on Blu. I figured the rest (for example, Universal) would sort its way out to the Blu camp over time...and I think we're getting very close.

i am talking DVD, not BD as well, and out of 250+ DVD, I only have 1 para titles. 130+ goes to Disney

Most home video companies are on a 6-9 month window

In other words, titles reflecting the change in policy from Nickerson's departure won't be seen till February or so.

Maybe we can get a whole new "rumor" thing going on the Insiders Thread with this. My god, that last rumor thing over there really was mind boggling.

Regardless of what he actually means, it certainly sounds promising, and I like it.

Remember this isn't somebody like rdjam who can hide behind the comfort of his computer screen, this is a very high up, public figure that will have people really pissed if his statements don't live up to what happens. also, i don't doubt for a second that he doesn't know about the wb rumors. now if he knows that wb is staying neutral and makes a statement that certainly implies they are going exclusive, he just pissed off a major studio which he probably doesn't want to do. he wouldn't have made a statement if he didn't know something. he isn't an idiot who makes public statements based off what we know to be rumors, he knows more than we do, and made a statement based on his knowledge, so yest this is more confirmation and it is one of the most important pieces of confirmation next to Silverberg, and Burns in Business Week.

Agree 100% with your sentiments stockstar. That is why I can't understand why this was moved here from the general forum
