Second Review.

The Reviewer's Verdict: a good but not great transfer, boosted by a solid uptick in detail but marred by a muted color palette and crushed black levels. The ATMOS track however is a Grade A.

I find this interesting because looking back on the Blu-ray, the weakest element on that disc by far was the raised black levels. The movie always had a muted color palette overall with sprinkles of vividness but it sounds like they darkened the image quite a bit for this guy to mention it.

What an interesting film. I’d never seen it before and I mostly enjoyed it despite the fact that there were some things I really disliked. But ultimately the good stuff—the sets, costumes, make-up, sound design, and most of the performances—more than made up for some of the bad singing and slightly exhausting camera work and editing (I’ll take bad singing over auto-tune so I do commend them for not using it). The disc itself is very nice. I can’t imagine this material could look or sound much better.

I agree that auto-tune should not be used, but bad singing in a musical should not be acceptable. I've watched this a few times, and there are great moments, but it still pains me for what it could've been if they'd chosen singers instead of names. I vastly prefer Les Misérables in Concert: The 25th Anniversary, which comes closest to my multiple Broadway experiences.

The review on this site says it’s upscaled. Did they just upscale an older 2k scan?

Did they not dub over the voices of the actors who couldn't sing? Isn't that a common practice?

Would like the 90s version with Liam Niesen & Geffory Rush, not a musical 👎🏻

The included bd is an old disc. Wouldn't even play on my end unless I disabled bd-live access. Almost forgot that was a thing back then.

Hi. My brother is getting the S90C as a Black Friday sale. Any experience watching 4k animated movies? If so, any experience how it looks with your previous.display.

It's not DTS X logo. It's DTS HD logo for the regular blu ray
