You know movie studios never goes by what the people loves or likes, they go what they like. For once I think movie studios should have a pole and put 3 cover arts and see what the fans like and the most votes gets the cover. But we all know that'll never happen.

Absolutely terrible cover. Every character looks out of place. They’ve literally taken an image of every character from a different part in the film and put them together. How do people like this??!

Ugh, yeah. Yikes that cover is bad. However, there's at least a character from the film on the artwork lol. Contender for worst cover of all-time for me has to be:

Can't have a Warner catalog thread without people complaining that they refuse to use the previous box art or original poster...

For most of my VHS, Laserdisc, DVD, Blu-ray collecting life, I cared about extras and artwork. After all this time, and now that I'm buying 4K, I learned to not care anymore. It's nice when there are movie-period extras, but they are not a deal-breaker. I really don't care about the artwork anymore. I just care about the movie itself; about it being a good transfer, sans any revisionism (as in George Lucas "Special" Editions). In a perfect world, every home release would use original-release poster artwork, and include any extras made at the time. But for now, I'm happy having a great-looking version of the original film! When I was a child, all you could get were movie fractions on Super 8mm. LOL.

The Goonies is in my all time top 5. Born in 78 and make no mistake, this was a massive film for kids in the UK from that era. Must have seen it around 20 times although only watched it twice since I bought the blu when it first came out. Owned it on VHS and imported the DVD as soon it was released. Still have two copies of the excellent novel too plus the score on CD (bought for a stupid price before people uploaded things like that to YouTube) and a US one sheet of the great poster by Drew Struzan. It was the first movie I chose to sit down with and watch with my girlfriend - now my wife. You could say I like this flick a lot. |

I couldn't believe that they left out everybody's favorite character, so I had to fix it for them.
