Blackhawks can't win a shootout to save their life. They are 1-5 in shootouts.

Yup. I can see it now. Detroit Vs San Jose in Western Conference final and Montreal Vs. New York Rangers in Eastern Finals and for the Cup, either Montreal vs Detroit or New York Rangers vs Detroit and you know in both situations, Detroit wins the cup. BTW, i love your avatar. The Stanley Cup is lucky!

If anybody watched the Detroit/Vancouver game last night, please tell me what Hossa did to get the 2nd star of the game. I didn't watch it, but I just looked at the box score and Hossa is listed as no goals, no assists, 0 +/-, and 3 shots on goal. Did he block some shots or make an amazing stick save to prevent a goal?

During the VAN/DET game last night Hossa was a dominant player. He didn't score but he owned the Canucks D-men all night. Sanford played a great game.

Why would the candians be there when they cant even beat the Bruins? Loved the self goal the other night also, great way to lose 2 points.

I'll tell you what, some of the new third jerseys announced this year are pretty sweet. In particular, I like:

Tampa Bay Lightning
Boston Bruins
Phoenix Coyotes

They have the talent but lack the effort , they all play individually now. Their power play ain't going well. Streit is a big loss to them.

Detroit Vs Montreal this wednesday.

The big difference is the bruins can now skate with the canadians speed, while also remaining the more physical team. Maybe im being blinded by homerism but the bruins are a pretty damn good team this year.

The aquisition of Michael Ryder does help . They have loads of talents and young guns. Claude Julien is a good coach too .

Montreal @ Detroit tonight on the NHL Network (Directv)! Any predictions? I like the Wings tonight, IF Conklin is in the net. If its Osgood... .

Some interesting stats:

Detroit (14-2-4) has taken seven of its last home eight contests with the Montreal Canadiens (11-5-4). Despite splitting the last four meetings, the Red Wings also are 13-4-0 against Montreal since 1994.

The credit for Detroit's current 7-0-2 run goes to an offense that registers 3.65 goals per game. The Red Wings also boast the NHL's top power-play unit with a 32.9 percent conversion rate (28-for-85).

The key number for this game and the Red Wings' season to date is three. When Detroit has scored at least three goals against the Canadiens since 1994, it is 11-0-0. When the Red Wings haven't, they are 2-4-0.

Something's wrong with the Leafs.

Apparently they didn't get the memo that they're {apparently, I'll believe it when I see the contract} getting Brian Burke... They're BELOW .500 !!!!

Well this was a huge win for the HABS. I hope this is the kind of win that motivates them to do better. Pretty bad slump lately. I hope Tanguay isn't hurt for too long.

Man it's impressive to see Detroit they are really good. Don't get a chance to see them play much but crazy skills. That franzen goal was surreal and Conklin was solid when he needed too.

We got lucky with that first goal but it's something we hadn't done since the beginning of the season which was drive the net and work for the goals. Best win of the year , hands down , great performance.

What a come back by the Penguins. Natural hat trick for Malkin even if one of them was an empty netter.

so by your statement they can't go because they just beat the Wings? Stanley cup champions? Please... The bruins are a force and I realized that when we played them last season in the playoffs. Bruins are no joke , not anymore at least.

Yes the own goal was bad but that didn't cost us the game. We had more than enough powerplays to make up for it and we had a chance to win in overtime and than shootouts. A brain cramp was all , and it was one play. Feel bad for the kid, but it's good for his development.

How can you be blinded by your homerism ( as you put it) when two posts above you basically deny their talent because they beat the HABS? Any team in the NHL , today, can beat another. 2, 3 goals are nothing anymore and can be turned around in one period or even 5 mins.

Yup very good point, I had read that as well and it was dead on as that's what happened tonight.

Indeed, you gotta give it to the Habs. They won a big game against the Wings. The question is, will it continue ?

Time will tell. A win like that though usually is very good for confidence. Habs are being plagued with injuries early in the season. Big difference from last year.
