I have the 0.2.D version as well. (bought from Amazon)
Someone else in the hot deals thread mentioned they had something loose inside of theirs as well. I think he said he just shook it into a corner and called it good, lol. I've seen the APC H15 disassembled (ready to be spray painted black, lol) - so it shouldn't be to much of a pain to unscrew it's casing to see whats causing that noise. |

So isn't there an APC model of this with Battery Backup?
Isn't this much more preferred? I mean isn't a brown out / power out one of the worst things for your HT equipement? Why are none of you concerned about power outages? Especially those with Projectors or Projector TV's? The bulb life can be seriously comprimised without being shutdown properly. What are your thoughts on this? I presently have a Monster Power Condition unit which has NO battery backup and I am looking for something which has one for my HT equipement. But it seems most people don't worry about power outages. Why? |

I have had my H10 for 10 months now and love it. Never any problems with it other then the occasional line trim light is lit when I come home from work. As soon as I power my TV on it goes away or turn on my outside light which is on the same circuit. I guess it's doing what it's supposed to do
![]() ![]() I must say that who ever got the amazon deal at $100 got one hell of a deal. $150 is not to shabby either. Last edited by erict; 04-05-2009 at 06:13 PM. |

I recently picked up a H15 on sale from Amazon. So far it seems to be doing a great job without any issues. I had a decent Tripp Lite surge protector, but when this went on sale I decided to get this and sell my old one to my in laws for their new HT setup I built for them.
I need to read though this thread when I get some time. |

Hello everyone, I was given an APC 650 UPS Battery back up from my brother. He used it for his office but given a new one from his IT department. They never took back the old one. My question could I use this from my home theatre system. Could I connect my power conditioner to it or would it too much of a load for it. Here is a pdf of the APC back up. Any advice would be appreciated.

What does your home theater consist of? it can't handle a ton of equipment or power draw. I wouldn't plug the power conditioner into it. If you wanted to plug in your tv, that might be ok.
Personally, I would only use it if I had a projector or rear projection tv. Otherwise, i'd pass or use it on a computer. |

you may want to test the unit on a full charge before getting to excited. A lot of these companies with UPS suggest changing the batteries every couple of years. I know where I work they swap them out every two years. I'm sure they last longer, and is mostly preventative measure, but you may still want to test it out. Plug the UPS in with nothing else plugged in, and make sure it is 'off' for at least overnight. Probably has an indicator if it's fully charged. Then plug something in, nothing too important, and unplug the UPS from the wall to simulate a power outage. Double check your manual link for estimated time it is supposed to operate on battery backup mode, and see if it comes close to that. Most UPS systems don't last last that long. If your batteries are bad, and it doesn't keep whatever you have plugged in powered that long, you may want to think about not using it, or replacing the batteries, which you can find online for fairly cheap. I would just hate for you to think your good, and then there really is a power outage and your UPS fails on you right away.

TigerDirect put them up on eBay with a Buy It Now option only. Still $99 with free shipping. I don't think it's worth it going through the hassle to paint it black. But if you do please take some pics for us!

Thanks for that. You may be right about the painting it black part. I would have to get my hands on it to see how easy it would be, especially the front faceplate. I know the top and sides would be easy and could care less about the back, so we'll see.

That is a very tempting price. I'm not sure how the silver would look inside my TV stand. I have an H10blk now with another brand new H10blk sitting in a box. Even though it's hard to look the other way at the price I just think I have to tell myself I don't need it
