Default APC Power Conditioner Owners Thread

Since so many of us seem to be buying APC power conditioners, I thought it might be a good idea to start an owners thread to handle the many questions that are bound to be asked. I have one for the APC H15 model to start it off.

The manual seems to lack more detailed directions for what type of components should be connected where. Being relatively new to the power conditioner subject myself, I thought I'd ask our resident experts for some advice.

The manual lists it's four types of filtered outlets on page 8: Digital, Video, Analog and High Current.

APC H15BLK Manual_7.jpg

I get most of the connections as they are pretty obvious. I do have a couple of questions though. Here's how I intend to connect them:

Digital Filter:
CD -
DVD - Oppo DVD
DVR - Dish DVR
CATV/SAT -
MONITOR -
AUX - PS3

Video Filter:
TV - Sammy LCD
VCR -

Analog Filter:
TUNER/AUX -
PREAMP/RCVR - Pioneer VSX-1018AHK

High Current:
SUBWOOFER - Energy S10.3
AMPLIFIER -

The manual says, "APC recommends you plug your devices into the outlets as marked, in order to assure optimum protection for your equipment." With that said, where is the best place for the PS3?

It goes on to say, "Any digital device can be plugged into the digital outlets, any video device can be plugged into either of the video outlets, etc. Example, if you have a cable box and a satellite receiver, but no monitor, you can plug the cable box into the "CATV/SAT" outlet, and the satellite receiver into the "Monitor" outlet." It sounds to me that any digital filter outlet will do. Is that correct?

Also, the unit is equipped with "Isolated Noise Filter Banks". Does that mean each outlet within a bank is isolated from the other outlets or are each of the banks merely isolated from the other banks?

I got my H15 on Tuesday. I love it. My PS3 is hooked up to the digital section. The thing that I like about it the most is that my clouds went away. I had already had my backlight set on 1, but when I added the H15 they went away. I am a very happy and proud owner of this product.

Mine is on its way as well. I've been reading about it though. I'm doing my homework for when it gets here.

Anyone discover an answer for this? I couldn't find anything definitive in the manual. Checking the web site for more answers also...

Caught the thread and I'll be keeping my eye on this thread since I can't decide between the H15 and the Panamax 5300.

Regarding the isolated noise filter bank question, the APC has a filter in each bank so there's no interference like when you're watching tv and someone turns on a blow dryer and "noise" shows up on the screen. Those filters take care of that.

If you google "APC AV H15" look for a cnet review and the reviewer explains all the this in detail. He also addresses the clicking issue. Hope this helps.

One thing you guys could do for me, what sold you on buying the APC over the Panamax? For those of you that were in my shoes.

Hey Cisco, welcome to the forums. They seem to be comparably equipped for the most part. For me, it came down to price. The $149 price tag is hard to beat for what you get. The black ones sell for twice that, although I found mine new on eBay for $200.

First off, thanks.
Second, is ebay an authorized dealer? I'm just asking because of the warranty. I know Panamax won't honor their warranty if it's not bought from an authorized seller.
