Well I have the Australian disc so it might be the same. But I saw that review and I was pretty surprised. I watch a lot of 3D movies, and frankly Jurassic World was probably the best one I've seen yet. I thought the depth and reality was incredible. Some of the outdoor scenery and shots too was just breathtaking. Just my opinion though. I was pretty surprised at the review though. Even the talk of crosstalk. I saw a little crosstalk at a couple of spots, but it wasn't everpresent, and nowhere near as bad as some high end films I have. That said, I've never gotten a satisfactory answer in my mind as to what causes that. I do have an active 3D Sony TV, not passive, so I'm getting full 1080p per eye, not the half res. I'm not sure what review equipment the reviewer uses though.

There's a difference between people. I love black bars, because I'm seeing a nice W-I-D-E picture. 2:76 is my favorite.

But don't get me wrong I prefer a wide picture its just with this one the very minimal visibility of the black bars at the top and bottom are a bit distracting to me. 2.35:1 AR does not distract me, ironically. |

You would think that this being 2015, and a movie enthusiasts forum on top of that, that "black bars" wouldn't be in a discussion anymore.

I purchased the Limited Edition Jurassic World version from Amazon and delivery is expected for Friday, so I'm hoping for a Friday night movie fest. I was wondering if any one else ordered the Limited Edition set and can comment on the quality and attention to detail of the model dinosaurs......

I honestly don't understand the general 3D hate on this and other forums. Never once have I heard someone complain about not liking the depth of field, realism or immersion. Most of the time people complain that its poorly implemented or they don't like the glasses. With bright displays and projectors and the Blu-rays correctly mastered, it looks fantastic. I couldn't imagine watching Jurassic World, Avatar, Mad Max Fury Road, San Andreas, Star Trek Into Darkness or a handful of other films in anything other than 3D. It only detracts when there is a technical error, not a creative one. 3D is as profound as color and if the technology was allowed to mature it would be almost universally loved. |

Well unfortunately my pre-order of Jurassic World didn't get shipped out today, and they didn't even bother to upgrade me to one-day shipping, they just sent it with the regular Prime 2-day shipping
![]() ![]() Unless they do something to make up for this I'm quite sure this will be the last time I ever pre-order a movie from Amazon ![]() |

My Australian copy arrived today (With a stupid scratch on the slip -_-) and my gift set is locked in my apartment manager's office cause I didn't get to their office in time.
The Blu-Ray looks amazing, and the CGI looks really really good! It was nice to see one of my favorite scenes in the movie and to finally be able to pause and focus on somethings! I'll spoiler it, although, the movie has been out for MONTHS... [Show spoiler] Bonus: One of my favorite shots: [Show spoiler]

Got up super early and grabbed the 3d bonus edition. They charged us 30$. My wife went back while at work and they tried to refund her 2$ she was like um no its 5$ less. Then the woman got mad at her because she didnt know how to count. Lol hate target. She also surprised me with the awesome lunchbox version when i got home. It and she are amazing.

that bugs the hell out of me! I pre-ordered it to get the Target gift card, but it didn't come with a bonus disc and the version they offer is just the normal non-exclusive 2D.. but Age of Ultron didn't have one when I ordered it but I still got their exclusuve. ugh. does it come in a paper sleeve or does it have an actual disc tray for it in the case?

![]() There are things 3D can add, but "realism" is not one of them. Quote:
I felt the same way watching it theatrically in IMAX 3D. It's like it was afraid to be in 3D. Most modern 3D films are rather restrained in this sense, because they don't want to be accused of being "gimmicky" - but it just robs of the biggest thing that makes 3D desirable in the first place. I mean, if ever a film deserved to have big scary impressive pop-outs, it would be a Jurassic film... If I were to describe it, I think most accurately it's got some of that forced-3D-depth, but it's like it's sealed within a constrained space. Muted is a good word for it. At least that's how I felt watching it theatrically. Just another way the film was horribly directed - how a film as good as this one is somehow made it through with such a noob running the show, is a miracle. From watching the extras, where he even full-on admits that he shot scenes that he didn't understand how they worked technically, and how often he so casually admits that basically he got the coverage and then sent it to ILM so they could make something out of it, I realized why there wasn't a commentary on it, LOL. The more he talks the worse you realize he really was. |
