I have a 49" LG 4K television. I use a calibrated custom setting that is mostly similar to the Cinema mode, except with a few minor tweaks.

My setup exposes the obvious limitations of DVDs and sub-par Blu-ray transfers, but everything is still quite watchable and enjoyable.

Incidentally, I set up the custom calibration on my old 32" 1080p LG television, because that television had a Calibration Wizard function. My 4K television does not have a Calibration Wizard function, but my custom calibration still showed up on the set when I hooked the new television up to my existing HDMI cable. Strange...

That can still mean that sharpness is on and/or other video processing is also turned on (eg dynamic contrast, noise reduction, motion interpolation). Might be worth going into the menu and turning those off (if they are on), and sharpness should generally be 0. Might also be worth going into the TV section of the forum and see if there is a thread for your TV model and see what people have posted re settings there.

It may not solve any issues you are seeing, it could be that it is what it is, but from general experience, out of the box settings, including Cinema modes, are far from optimal. A recent film like The Last Beauty shouldn't really be showing any issues.

So glad Moonlight won, my favorite is probably still Nocturnal Animals but from the nominees this was probably the more deserving, too bad it didn't win the direction award.

Out of what I have seen I would agree re Nocturnal Animals (then Arrival, Jackie and La La Land, Moonlight and Paterson).

Last year, there were complaints at the Oscars for a lack of cultural diversity.

They rectified that problem for this year.

Now, we've had a mess over the Best Picture envelope.

Something tells me they are going to change that for next year, then.

If the Oscars keep going at this rate, they'd have to change the format of the ceremony to become a pre-school educational show.

It's a bit of a crap shoot as they seem to get fairly overwhelmed. I'd say order early, but I've had orders from the 2nd day of the sale ship before orders made as soon as the sale starts.

If by "in the states" you mean "Kentucky", that would probably help.
