Same thing just happened to me. This edition says Lionsgate on the spine, so I think it's an error at the studio as to what discs they should be putting in the double feature.

My original Canadian BD of Grindhouse has died, and it's out of print so I ordered this US version from WOWHD. Unfortunately, I also got the two separate discs for both movies. It seems the idiots at Lionsgate don't know what this release is actually supposed to be. It's not a total loss for me as I don't have the extended cuts in my collection. However, it looks like I will have to order the German version to get the old Grindhouse experience again.

Perhaps the full-length cut is out of print? Many people have reported receiving the two extended cuts, rather than the full-length version with the trailer previews.

It extremely bothers me that the stand alone blu ray has a different aspect ratio than the Grindhouse version. Anyone know why they made this unnecessary change? I guess I have to get all 3 versions now lol I would prefer to just have the stand alone extended versions. But I can’t stand the aspect ratio. It drives me nuts 😭 more than it reasonably should.

It's just a Robert Rodriguez thing, he did that with a bunch of his movies on home video. Should only affect Planet Terror, though. Death Proof has the same aspect ratio... although, I guess you're still stuck buying all three if you want the extended versions.

Looks like I waited too long to pick this up. (And now that the correct version is unavailable, I want it even more!)

Is there any way to tell from the cover whether or not it's the theatrical version aside from Lionsgate on the spine? I could grab one off eBay, but they seldom show the spine in photos.

I was actually getting ready to buy it at Best Buy or Amazon since it's now priced at $7.99, but then I thankfully checked this thread. I already have the extended editions so I sure don't need them again!

Glad I checked this thread before buying! So, these are showing up as two discs with one for each film in their extended versions. Planet Terror's release was two discs, so you miss out on the extra disc from PT's release. Does the back cover still list the same info as before (when the correct discs were included)?

No, completely different lower back cover. Lionsgate logo is right about where the 191 min. runtime is listed in on your pic.

Better grab any copies you can find of this on eBay because I have a feeling this won’t be corrected. I managed to find a sealed copy of the original Vivendi release for $12. There was another copy that was $35 but it’s gone now.

I was able to pick up the Vivendi 2 Disc Collectors Edition with Slipcase for $10 and change off ebay. I'm sure there are a lot out there

Same thing happened to me. Disc 1 is JUST Planet Terror; disc 2 is JUST Death Proof.

That is clearly not what is advertised on the back on the packaging. "The Original Theatrical Exhibition" at "191 minutes."

Has anyone had any luck getting lionsgate (or whomever) to send a proper disc?

The US Steelbook is the correct discs if you're able to locate it, luckily I have 2 copies. I remember picking up the original release with the black slipcover, had to travel to 4 different Wal-Marts to get it because it was out of stock on Amazon at the time. If anyone in the US needs the correct discs, I have a steelbook that has some light scratches.

I would like to thank everyone in the thread for the information, I stopped by Disc Replay after work and stumbled upon this title in the horror section and immediately pulled up this thread on my phone to confirm which is the right version.

It was the Vivendi release, and when the young lady got the discs out of the back, I asked to check them and they were the right ones.

Only 9.99 and tax.
