Sounds about right. Rome is a great show but I really liked Spartucus as well. I think John Hannah had some of the best lines in TV as Lentulus Batiatus. I often wonder how many takes it took him to say some of the things he did.

Right? Honestly the only reason I bought the first pressing is being A) is was almost 50% and B) because I didn't want to support something so stupid I felt the second pressing represented.

I think people need to learn to not get offended by everything.

Honestly, it wasn't intentional or very noticeable. People need to let things go. It wasn't a personal attack or declaration of terrorism or anything.

It's sad that this is what our world is coming to.

I'm sorry, but that modification looks DNR'd to death(no pun intended), there's banding all through the hair, macroblocking is running rampant, blacks are totally crushed, and to top it all off: there's green tint

Nope, no sale!

Then you better snag the first pressing before July 9th, which is unedited.

How does that look like Bush?

I would love to have this series on Blu, but I'm sure low prices will be offered for sets of the seasons eventually. Reading the books now... just started Clash of Kings.

You can snag the first pressing of season 1 on blu for less than 50 bucks on amazon. It's discontinued so it might get even cheaper before July 9th (which is when the 2nd pressing gets released).

On another note, I got my first pressing edition of Season 1 on blu (amazon shipped it surprisingly fast). I debated keeping it sealed for potential collector's value, but since I never sell limited/special sets, I'll probably open it. Especially because my plan is to switch out the appropriate disc when the inevitable complete series comes out on blu.

not worthless, per se. Since it can still be considered a collector's item, since this version will never be seen or published again.

But because the scene was edited and not removed, the original version will not be worth all that much.

oh ok. i thought these would be worth more cuz these editions are now rare and out of print. Kind of like the first print of Little Big Planet. After they had to re-release the game to remove a line from the game the price of the first print went through the roof.

Well, I'm only basing this on what I've read and gathered.

I mean, even now, on Amazon the 3rd party prices are still around $50 to $70 dollars (normal price for a HBO series on blu).

Who knows what will happen when the entire stock is actually depleted?

I'm interested to see if the second pressing cut/removed the commentary as well for the "offending" episode. If they did, I think that will make the first pressing worth a bit more.

I think most of us here have the first pressing, so who knows? We'll have to wait until July 9th to see.

Not me.

(A) I don't want to encourage the bastards, and

(B) There are too many others titles I want to buy to spend money on an extra copy of GOT just for a ridiculous and unnecessary modification of a very brief scene. I'm not that fanatic a collector.

Keep in mind, that something is only worth as much as someone will pay for it. With that said, I don't see "First Edition GW Bush" versions going for that much. Now if they tweak or change the coverart, or something of that nature...then maybe. Again I don't see that happening either.
So, basically, you're stuck with what you bought: Game of Thrones S1!
Which should be plenty fine!

Here's something I'm concerned about with the re-release.

If they only edited the head of the not-looking-like-George-Bush prop, then that's inconsequential for those under remorse of not getting the first print. However, will the audio commentary for the final episode be censored or removed altogether due to the comments regarding the president? Now THAT'S something I won't abide by.

It's just a guess, but I'd bet on them removing the comments related to the head from the commentary.

They'll redo the Commentary for the episode.
"oh, this isn't the way this shot originally was."
"Yeah, people went nuts about 6 months after the Blu-Ray was released."
"Yeah, because no one noticed until we pointed it out that a certain person's *cough, cough: George Bush, cough, cough* head was mounted on a stake."
"Yeah, and because of that we had to get the episode censored."
