Aside from compression, Starship Troopers seems fine to me, the whole construction of the movie is exaggerated so a "hot" HDR grade seems appropriate.
The nuked HDR is one thing as an aesthetic choice, how a TV handles it is another. As magnifique as the ZD9 is at rendering 1000-ish nits in totality, these Light Cannon™️ grades are way too harsh. Troopers is almost 4000 nits MaxCLL and even the average brightness hits a peak of 2400-ish nits MaxFALL, that's insane and is why it looks so nuked because even the average brightness is being clipped to fook. The grain is extremely coarse on Troopers and boy does that HDR grade amplify it, which in turn puts a lot of pressure on the compression. Things like the HDR Optimiser on the Panny players helps, and I can always use a lower contrast mode on the TV, but if I can get an optimal image on UHD disc without any such tinkering then I will default to that method e.g. Dobly Vision. And a betterer encode would be a lovely bonus at the same time.

It's for those two reasons why I'm similarly excite about these Ghostbusters reissues.

If your looking forward to new Dolby vision ghostbusters 1 and 2 why if you say the light canon grades are harsh?

I pre-ordered it and still have money left on the giftcard.

I'm keeping the digibook since I like digibooks in general and think that was a nice release.

Because the DV should tame them.

Oh so hdr is what thought the worse
Of the two which annoys me that Sony chose not to put Dolby vision on the last action hero.

I'd be surprised if that was for Japan only. I'd expect it to be announced elsewhere in due time.

Yes, for the audio.

Looks fine to me, but I don't think I'm as picky as most here.

It's not being released by Sony, though. It's by TC Entertainment. Or do they release all of Sony's discs?

See Ghostbusters and The Karate Kid, with Leon coming soon.

Hopefully A Few Good Men and Groundhog Day will be next. Yes, I'll double dip for original stereo tracks.
What is the issue with Leon?

Not much, as it's not got a Light Cannon™️ HDR grade and the UHD is verr naice. But it was made before this OG audio kick of Sony's so it only has English Atmos and not a 5.1 track.

Ah, I see. Thank you. I must admit that I am enough of a fan of Leon that I didn’t even bother to read any of the comments on this forum and blind bought it without hesitation. I thought it looked great, and I didn’t even notice the audio was only Atmos. I must be slipping as I get older…

Yep, you're not allowed to enjoy it any more. Sorry about that.

Curse you for ruining it for me! Welp, I’m off to throw that worthless disc on the burn pile. At least it’s a decent night for a bonfire…

I just (wrongly) assumed it was being released by Sony as I (wrongly) thought they had the Japanese rights.

Seems a bit of coincidence then that this new release is adding Dolby Vision and original audio just as Sony have been doing.

Hopefully Sony will do a US re-release at some point.

Ultimate seems to finally be listed on BB for $99.99. There's no picture, but it lists the 3 4Ks and the 2/1/22 release date. I'll be ordering there to use points.
