This movie needs a new disc pressed with correct black floor setting. I don't understand why a faulty disc would be reissued with new packaging. Either fix the issue or let the old disc go oop. Surely there must be something else to repackage.

I joined the EB group buy on this site a couple of days ago. I love the movie, I love the HDR grade and Atmos on the UHD (and it’s not like the video is filtered to the point of looking like a DVD, you can still see the pores on Tom Cruise’s face etc.) and the new SteelBook looks nice and that slipbox is pretty... I’m excited to get my copy!

We all know there's nothing more annoying and groan-inducing than when somebody insists they remember exactly what a movie looked like in the theaters but, dang it, I'mm'a go ahead and do it anyway and insist fervently that the colder look of the BD much more closely matches what I saw in the cinema than the warmer and more colorful look of the 4K, so that's another black mark against the latter for me.

There’s definitely more highlight information and color that they couldn’t pull out of nowhere on the UHD so I’m inclined to believe that was closer to the theatrical experience, though when I saw this my local theater was trash tier and it probably looked flatter than the BD for me and I can’t remember it enough to claim anything anyway. |

Wow! That's the one I'm most looking forward to (along with Get Out). I'm curious, is it related to issues with the 4K or the movie or both?

I loved the HDR highlights from for example glowing leds in contrast to dark background though. Even if the background is not pure black the effect was still really nice. Gets presented very well especially on an OLED TV. |

When do you think we can expect a non-DNR UHD ? This film is crying out for HDR, but I will stick with my BD because of DNR.

I still loooooove the HDR on this though. And when the UHD is watched in isolation it doesn't come across as 'soft' necessarily, the perceptual impact of the HDR closes the gap, contrast being a close friend of apparent sharpness. I goose the sharpness admittedly just to give it a bit more kick, using the Reality Creation on the TV or the sharpness setting on the Pannysonic player, and I honestly have no complaints after that. I put this on just to check something last night and ended up watching like 45 minutes of it

I’ve always been a bit shocked, truth be told, at how many (to my eyes) glorious discs Geoff has quibbles about but yet he always gives this one a free pass. Personally, I fervently believe Universal owes us a do-over. I shouldn’t have to do any settings trickery on my end to force this placebo-effect-style into something I can tolerate.
