I remember my jaw on the floor over the Atmos sound / experience in the theater.

The score must sound insane in Atmos

Not a great movie, but a pretty good one. And it was definitely solid in terms of visuals and audio. I'll be upgrading this one, although I'll hate to lose that Wal-Mart steelbook.

BTW, I'm glad to see that Universal is mimicking Sony with their UHD releases thus far. All of them are getting Atmos or DTS:X upgrades. Take note, Fox and WB.

I haven't seen any of the initial Universal lineup. Looks like they are all very interesting so I'll pick them up (although with the initial HDR euphoria/novelty waning, I'm starting to get a little more price conscious regarding UHD catalog. So I might wait until they drop to under $25, if they don't debut at that price).

thankfully Universal isn't playing dumb like Fox is ...

I'm really excited at the prospect of what catalog and newer titles will be DTS-X'd - 'Jurassic World' and 'Furious 7' felt MIA in terms of not having been mixed in Atmos for their initial theatrical releases... maybe this go round?

Will definitely pick this up. Very underrated film IMO.

Only dissapointment is that this probably won't have the 1.90:1 version, but I'll settle for the 2.35:1 AR.

Hard to think the PQ could get better, but thinking of picking this up for the Atmos soundtrack. The M83 score is just too good.

Sure, I'm keeping on eye on UHD prices and that's without the euphoria wearing off, but Lucy in UHD will be worth any price they want. The regular Blu is utterly amazing, so if they're able to deliver WCG and HDR on top of that then we're talking eye candy par excellence.

OMG!

4k was mildly on my radar. I now have to take it more serious.
This movie will ROCK on UHD!

I kept the Blu-ray on the shelf for over a month in anticipation of my upgrade to 7.1

How much space does DV take up? Is this the kind of thing that'll require 100 GB discs? Not that it'll make much difference to me since my TV doesn't support it.

Never really considered if Dolby Vision required TL discs.

Universal said they're releasing UHD BDs encoded with Dolby Vision. So I'm still looking out for which title.

Also, why did it state single layer discs in these specs?

Including that would push me over the edge in considering getting this. The film looks jaw-dropping as it is on regular blu-ray. I find it hard to imagine it looking much better than it already does, but who knows what the magic of HDR might add.

It doesn't, it says "Single Sided". For some reason Universal have long done this on their press releases, note the "Side A" qualification as well. They did double sided HD DVD/DVD combos back in the day and even some BD/DVD ones IIRC, but those were pretty short lived.

I'm sure Universal will eventually support DV. But they may be waiting(along with every other studio) until support for that format is more prevalent in 4k TVs. How many even do offer it right? A few LGs and Vizios, right? Anything else?

Sounds like I might not wait then. I'll probably get Lucy just because Scarlett is so darn hot.

You said you haven't seen Lucy, right? I'd give that a rental first. I thought it was one of the worst films I saw in 2014.
