Starsky and Hutch was another serious TV show that became a comedy when made into a movie.

Just got back from seeing this with my son. We both had a blast! Solid 4/5 for me.

Debating on whether to see this right now. I love Verbinski's work on the Pirates Trilogy and Rango has got to be one of the best animated films in 20 years.

I don't want to see a bad Verbinski film.

To the people out there, is it worth it if I loved his work on the Pirates Trilogy?

I don't particularly care for the last two Pirates films (although he didn't direct the last one), but I dug this. I think it's worth seeing, even if it isn't a great film. I'd call it 'good, not great'. Rango is pretty much his masterpiece, as far as I'm concerned. I really like the first two Pirates films, but I peg Rango a notch above them (or at least about even with the first one). And put this about on par with the second Pirates film.

Saw it. Fun as hell, even if it's definitely too long. Depp is magnificent gold in this. Visually astonishing, as any good western should be. The climax set piece on the train is incredible, if way over the top. Yet, there was some nice subtext and a nice dose of serious drama.

Will rent it again to fully get all of it. But, Verbinski is a visionary. He's got stuff on his mind.

I saw it on Weds., was also on the fence. It was enjoyable enough, if not (as everyone's said) too long by at least 25-35 mins.

Somewhat agree on your post. I voted 3/5 mainly due to the Completely Unnecessary flashback stuff with the little kid in 1933 & "old" Tonto. Didn't need that at all. Some slow stuff as well along the way but overall a decent flick that's getting unwarranted crap thrown at it. I'd have voted 3.5/5 if possible TBH

But....you said you already SAW Pirates 3?
(Although guess that explains why you haven't seen Mouse Hunt.)

Somehow, I read that as "He's got issues...", and yes, that does tend to be my reaction watching his films from the last few years.

Australia Loved it! Audience even applauded (unfortunately a small audience)

I loved this movie and I will be buying this on Blu Ray the first opportunity i get!
The Cinematography is just exquisite, even to Lawrence of Arabia standard; and some of the camera work was just inspired.
I am thinking that some of these critics didn't even go see it or maybe they didn't get any freebies to make them happy? Maybe the anti-capitalist sub-text and how capitalism contributed to the travesties perpetrated on the native American Indians was too much to swallow for them?
Anyway like I said the audience members at my screening actually applauded at the end, and I haven't seen that happen for years! This movie rocked
I give it 9 out of 10, such a shame it won't make the money it deserves.

Well, at this least this Lone Ranger is WAY, WAY better than the one from 1981. The only thing the 1981 version had going for it was it played it more straight and it was short. But, I thought the lead, Klinton Spilsbury was terrible. Then I read Entertainment Weekly and they had an article on the 1981 version. They said Spilsbury was unruly on the set and that his performance was so bad they had to dub his voice with James Keach's. The 1981 version bombed at the box offcie too.

I'm not sure what I just watched. I was horrified from beginning to end. Captain Jack Tonto (complete with a seeming mental unbalance) and nerdy mc Hammer completely destroy the Lone Ranger origin story from beginning to end. I knew it wasn't going to be the greatest movie in the world but I was at least hoping for something like John Carter where it was entertaining even though it got panned universally. and I thought IM3 was the worst movie I'd seen this summer. This took the cake

I saw the movie today and hated it. I began to think there wasn't a famous part of the legend that they didn't insult. When I came out, I thought that giving it zero out of five would be too generous, and would have marked it down to -5. Not only is it the worst film of 2013, it joins the list of worst movies of all time.

Or maybe it just stank? (Which it did.)

I just came back from seeing it 4/5! I really was skeptical about seeing it after hearing bad reviews and seeing the box office but Wow it was Amazing. Great Family Blockbuster. Disney does it again. Sadly It'll end up like John Carter but they really give it their all in movies. If you loved the first Pirates of the Caribbean, you'll love the Lone Ranger.

Considering that it's ending up like John Carter "box office wise", at least it will come out on BD early for those who may want to buy it including myself . That is certainly true what you said about Pirates 1 and this movie, I've noticed that right away when I first saw this movie 2 weeks ago.

Enjoyed it a lot when I saw it yesterday. Not as solid as Rango, as others have already mentioned previously. I gave it a 4/5 on the poll.
