Default Mighty Morphin Power Rangers Movie

I know a lot of people will hate this idea and hate the show but I really liked the 2 movies that they made and would love to have them on blu-ray.

I'd buy Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers: the Movie, but I don't know about the Turbo one. Not that I'm not a fan, just that I can live with only owning the first movie since it's not canon with the show, but if I can't own the show (from MMPR through In Space), I don't think I'd want to bother with Turbo (which IS canon with the series). An all or nothing kind of thing.

I would like to see the very first movie only on blu-ray.

I grew up on power rangers from the first season when it first came out on TV. It was Mighty Morphin Power Rangers back in the day.

But then as it went along they did to many changes and including changing the title of the program and the stories got worse I gave it grace for so long based on the first season were good and the movie. Since it got worse and worse I stopped watching it.

I would love to see the first season few season of Mighty Morphin Power Rangers only on blu-ray forget the rest of the crap that came after.

I enjoy the Turbo movie slightly more only because Jason and Kimberly come back and end up being possessed by evil for a time. During this Kimberly informs them all that "pink is out" and then Jason kicks Tommy's ass.

stargazeruk - There were good series post-MMPR... In Space (Zordon dies)... Time Force... Dino Thunder (Tommy returns)... also the Red Ranger reunion happened during the Wild Force series.

This is a movie I'd buy for $10 or less.

I would love both films on Blu-Ray, even Turbo (which isn't painfully bad).

I'm actually hoping the series may make to Blu-Ray soon as well. There is a rumor that we may get it soon: (I'm a little doubtful its true, but its something)

http://www.freewebs.com/blazeranger/index.htm

However, I'm am pretty sure the movies will come soon, and they'll probably look great.

Well with no announcement from 20th Century Fox we are in for a long wait for the film since they own the rights two both movies.

From what I can find disney own the Power Rangers show rights including Mighty Morphin Power Rangers so I do hope disney hurry up and release MMPR. It might then give Fox an incentive to release the movie

Disney acquired Saban Entertainment / Fox Family years back... thus owning all the PR series and a ton of other Saban produced entities.

There are full season releases for various PR series (including MMPR) that were released overseas with English audio tracks-- just not in the US.

But those season releases, they were released by different companies in those regions, weren't they? I don't expect Disney would believe Germany has a higher market for old episodes of Power Rangers than the US... I would however guess that a smaller company may have distribution rights in that region and they would decide to pump out whatever IPs they can.

Until we see DVDs in this region, I don't think we'll be seeing BDs any time soon. After all, there are plenty of shows produced natively in HD which are still failing to get BD releases, why would a low budget kiddie show from the 90s be able to jump the gate straight to BD when there isn't much demand for it. Maybe if they have somehow remastered the old episodes for HD, they'll finally get a DVD release in this region, but don't hold your breath for a BD release.

Correct, the season releases overseas were licensed out, not put out by Disney.

Disney has just been putting out single volume DVDs for the PR series-- and only for the current shows since the switch over. There was one "Best of" released (it has the White Ranger two-parter from MMPR on it).

I'd think we'd see the MMPR/Turbo movies to Blu-Ray eventually, but I don't think we'll see any of the series. Disney doesn't seem to have any desire to put season sets out. Fans have been asking since they bought out Saban.

I would love this to happen! I'd buy both, but would watch the first one more! It's so stupid that the Turbo movie was basically the show, just longer! It would have been so much better if they had made it like the first with armored costumes, & computer animated zords! It's not like they didn't have the money to do it again! lol

MMPR:TM brings back so many good memories. Day 1 Purchase for me because of pure nostalgia. Very glad to own the official german DVDs of MMPR Season 1-3 (and the movie of course).

I actually enjoyed the show better than the movie. Ivan Ooze was lame. The updated armored costumes were not good either.

Not to bump such a old thread but....

I did notice while searching through VUDU's Disc To Digital list that there is a blu-ray listing for Power Rangers Turbo. It's also avaliable for upgrade to HD. Not exactly a confirmation but since it's the 20th annaversery of PR it's a possibility.
