The hammer's head is straight the whole time after he throws it I just watched that part again (watch it again hitting pause/play really quickly)

It looks to spin because he lets it go while it is still straight up and not pointing forward.

He lets it go and it levels so that the head of the hammer is flying towards where he is throwing it and continues going straight.

Default Clark Gregg Talks Thor and Directing a Future Marvel Movie

Quote:
When Marvel revealed the "assembled" line-up of the upcoming adaptation of The Avengers, fans may have been too busy seeing recent additions Mark Ruffalo and Jeremy Renner standing amongst Robert Downey Jr., Samuel L. Jackson, Scarlett Johansson, Chris Hemsworth and Chris Evans to notice the inclusion of Clark Gregg, who plays S.H.I.E.L.D. Agent Coulson.

No one is more surprised by his continued association than Gregg, who began his Marvel career in Iron Man as Coulson, a character that doesn't even exist in the comics. Gregg continued in Iron Man 2, including a Easter egg scene after the crdits that set-up Gregg's participation in Thor, and will obviously continue with The Avengers. Gregg told Collider that "every time they [Marvel] call, I’m like, 'Really? I get to do this guy again?'" He's also hoping that his relationship with Marvel will eventually include directing.

Quote:
I’ve thought about it more than they have. I wrote and directed this movie Choke, that was a small indie comedy from this Chuck Palahniuk book of the same name and, while there was a medieval village, I don’t know that I was the first choice for Thor. I would really be into it. I certainly watch what Ken [Branagh] and Jon Favreau do, in terms of the scope and the visual effects, and I’m fascinated by it. I feel like there’s probably one that’s more charactery and smaller, that I’d love to get a crack at, at some point. I want to just show up with a spec script for one of my favorites of their heroes and go, "What do you think?"
Until that happens, Gregg can enjoy working on Thor and The Avengers. Gregg expanded (a little) on what his character will be up to in Thor.

Quote:
Without getting instantly evaporated by the Marvel ray-guns, I think it’s safe to say that Thor is an origin story.
[Show spoiler]Obviously [from the end of Iron Man 2], a hammer is in New Mexico in a giant crater and Nick Fury is otherwise engaged, so it’s Agent Coulson’s job to show up and investigate that. I don’t think he knows, going into New Mexico, anything more than that. It reeks of superhero to him, with the giant hammer and the perfectly symmetrical crater. By the end of the movie, it becomes clear that this is very much in line with what S.H.I.E.L.D. is in existence for.
More than that, I’m too scared to talk about.
After Thor, Gregg will have to wait for The Avengers to play Coulson again, since The First Avenger: Captain America takes place in the 40's, Gregg points out, "so unless they write in a wormhole, I won’t be in it."

That probably didn't need to be tagged, but I did it just in case.

I've been reading a couple articles here and there, and people are b****ing about the CG not looking great.

Give me a freaking break, the movie has been in post production for what? Two months?

They still have about 8 months of post-production work to do.

I personally thought the CG looked fine given the quality of the video. It'll definitely look better and be more refined when the movie is released.

Great article Diesel, thanks for posting

I love how everyone involved in these movies, even Clark Gregg, just seem enthused to be a part of Marvel's grand scheme. It's not just a role to them, and they really love being a part of it. It really makes them stand out more than actors and director's that make other comic book movies who just look at is as "another job". I love reading the interviews with all the people involved and seeing how much they love the comics and what Marvel is doing.

Also, we have months until the movie comes out, just a little under a year. The movies CG will look great by then. It hasn't been that long since they started pre-production guys. Let's give them the benefit of the doubt that it's going to look better

Default The stuff i said about thor looking bad? I take that back.

Quote:
Yeah, I wasn't a fan of this image from Kenneth Branagh's Thor when it first released. True enough, that. But I've got to say that with the five minute long Comic Con promo reel currently appearing and disappearing online just as fast as people can upload it and Marvel can hit them with copyright infringement claims that what I've seen now looks good. Damn good.

Marvel, a suggestion if you want to win over the skeptics. There's nothing particularly spoiler-y in that reel. Stop chasing it down and removing it and release it in high definition instead. That reel is your friend. Embrace it.

the hammer is about the size it usually is in comics (in fact it might be a bit bigger than what you usually see in comics) in many issues of Thor, he would put the staff part of the hammer (the wooden section) in his belt with the stone part up above the belt to hold it (like someone would put a gun in a belt holster) if it was bigger he would never be able to do that. i think the hammer is fine, in fact if they had made it a little smaller it would be perfect or more to the comic book scale. remember the hammer is enchanted with Odinian magic so the size of it is not what makes it grand, it's what it can do and channel that does....hmmm, that does sound kinda familiar, size....
