I'm off to watch Jurassic World which I'm hoping will be spectacular based on the fact that it is only a few years old and filmed with newer technology.

I also read that the original Jurassic Park received a new 4K scan but the author wasn't sure about two or three.

I'm very interested to read the Digital Bits review and I would think it should be out this week!

Just a question: How is the AQ, any new sound comparison

I'm talking about resolution and grain. SDR or HDR have nothing to do with it.

Colors on these screenshots looks clearly washed compared with "Cobravenomous" camera photos. His iphone 6 camera is far from perfect but still it's good enough and I can tell from his photos colors looks more vibrant on real HDR HDTV

When it comes to sharpness, they have clearly used some grain filtering (it's not on pair with "the mummy" transfer for sure) but still it looks much better than first BD clarity wise, and thanks good no EE now. I think I will like UHD transfer

Yeah, colour wise you can't use the washed out looking screenshots for accurate representations but grain wise, it's definitely got a filtered, smoothed look. I don't know why that would surprise anyone though as this is Universal again and they refined the grain somewhat for Gladiator UK UHD. I was kind of expecting that to be honest but it didn't ruin the Gladiator disc presentation overall. That was still stunning IMO. So, I expect to like this JP1 UHD too.

Why can't Universal simply leave the DNR button alone?!

Thanks for the head's up! After a rewards cert and the $15 JWFK movie cash, $35 is a great price for this set.

Anyone that has their hands on JP, how is the DTS-X track? I finally got our overheads installed and I'm really looking forward to hearing this.

Absolutely. The colors and dynamic range of this disc are much better than my screencaps can ever hope to convey.
Colors in my screencaptures (based upon HDR10 output from a Panasonic BDP-700 which is then captured in 10-bit UHD DNxHR HQX) are fairly muted and then I have applied a LUT converting them to rec709 (ST2084 1000 nits to gamma 2.4). And then they have been exported as JPEGs for uploading.
So colors and dynamic range in these screenshots have been heavily altered from the source and as such are not representative of how this looks like when I play back the disc on my TV. Only the resolution is representative, but even that will probably have taken a tiny hit due to the generational loss when converting between different file formats. But it is the only means I currently have for capturing UHD discs.

My US set has just arrived.
Packaging is nicer than I expected.

The digital codes are all individual for each of the four movies.

NICE. Thanks for these. Yeah, it appears HDR is turned off here, but this looks similar to the iTunes copy I've been looking at the past month.

But in that produciton photo everything has a washed out green tint? Why are you using this to compare? That’s the worst photo I’ve ever seen.

There is also something wrong with the 4K. The color grading changes drastically from warm/yellow, to cool/pink the next. The colours have no consistency. How can this happen? -

The Jeep colours get a repaint from shot to shot?
It seems the former looks proper 35mm colour but the latter looks exactly like the 2000 pinkish DVD. It might as well have been pulled from that same source, for this shot.

Look at this production still of the original Jeep -

And look how close the colours of the 3D Blu-ray are -

I have made some comparsion screenshots from BD (not exact frames)

http://screenshotcomparison.com/comparison/113892
http://screenshotcomparison.com/comparison/113890
http://screenshotcomparison.com/comparison/113889

Sharpness is just a little bit better but at least ugly halo (d)efect is gone . If colors are more saturated on UHD disc (as "Cobravenomous" camera photos clearly suggest) it looks like decent upgrade after all .

The BD has EE, so it’s possible that’s just making the grain that’s present look more noticeable in the screenshots. But who knows? It’s hard to tell without seeing it in motion.

Exactly and the thing is, when I was taking these BD screenshots I have realized how obtrusive grain was on BD transfer, everything shimmers because of EE (to the point when grain is actually very distracting).
