I'm looking to buy a 5020 or 6020 in good shape if anyone wants to sell theirs for a fair price. Or you know some one who might? Please PM me. Thanks everyone, Sonny.

Question

I was thinking about getting the patch for my 500M to unlock the isf modes and wanted to get some opinions.

I've noticed that when using D-Nice's setting for Pure mode that it seemed off. I then tried using the Spears and Munsil calibration blu and the Disney WOW blu and found that my Kuro needed to be set to +10 for color where as D-Nice's were +2. I had followed D-Nice's settings for breaking the Kuro in but obviously something is different. What I'm wondering is if purchasing the patch and ControlCAL and using D-Nice's settings for the ISF modes will or could they be considerably off as well?

Is it possible I'm doing something wrong? I've tried changing HDMI cables out, going through the receiver and going directly to the tv from source but nothing changes.

If I get the patch and it seems like the color is off with D-Nice's settings for ISF as well can I just change the brightness, contrast, and color using the calibration discs and get the same results?

I can't afford a professional calibrator and this is as close as I'm going to get for the time being.

My components are:
Oppo to Marantz receiver to Kuro

Thanks for the help.

snsguy, please don't touch your Kuro, let a experienced professional ISF calibrator calibrate it. Your tv is too much a investment to take the chances of messing something up. Set aside some money and spend the $300 to $400 for a proper calibration.

Thanks for word of caution oppopioneeer. I'm not really worried about screwing anything up since I've been in several tv service menu's before. But I will deffinetly be cautiois if I decide to get t hat patch. I'm not really totally convinced it will do me any good without having a professional calibrate the tv though.

Well, it's your lucky day if you want to get a KRP-600M plasma...could be the last new in box model available. Can't wait to see what this will go for.

He KRP's are great displays. But the jacked up prices by these fools is a joke...$10,500... price gougeing at it's finest and I hope they don't sell a damn thing. I really want a 5020/6020. I have a guy that has KRP 500m's for $2000. That's just not what I'm looking for. When the KRP's hit the scene I was already good for five 9G Kuro's and didn't need a bunch more. I gave two of them away as gifts. I did have a 6th Elite Pro-111 that was stolen from my condo... I just want the 5020/6020 to do a board swap with since I have another elite board just sitting here.

Damn, I'm sorry to hear someone broke into your home, I hope no one was hurt? As long as no one got hurt is most important. Did you catch who ever did it and bring them to justice? I hope you installed a alarm since then?

I think there are still some Pioneer plasma's around, mostly used but you can make them almost like new with a board swap and some other tweaks.

I hope you get your Pioneer plasma back and it's in the same it was in when it was stolen. It would be something though if you found it and the person who stole it put the whole works in it new board etc and you got it back!

Hi Sonny, I am sorry that your Pioneer PRO-111FD was stolen. That makes you at least the second member at this forum mentioning that you had a Pioneer plasma stolen. Once someone finds out one has a Pioneer plasma one can become a target by local thieves. Having contractors and other people visit ones home or condo opens up a possibility to theft. Some people might even be doing IP address traces to find peoples locations.

I would recommend people get alarm systems with monitoring services if they have a lot of electronic equipment. Also purchasing a 32 camera or 16 camera DVR system for a computer with video and audio recording helps to catch people stealing stuff. They also have remote camera access options. People think twice before stealing when there is indoor and outdoor cameras. Hopefully your insurance will cover you for $5,000 since that is the list price of the PRO-111FD.

I have seen Pioneer plasma screens listed and selling for $10,000-$15,000+ for used Elite Signature series and other models. Since the 2008 Pioneer plasmas are still the best on the market for 2-D 1080P picture quality a thief can easily sale a used screen between $3,000-$10,000+ on EBAY, Amazon, or other methods. The local educated pawn shop owner might even give them $2,000.

Of course many items on EBAY and Amazon people are selling are legal and were purchased by people at retail stores or mail order companies.

I did locate someone selling a used Pioneer PRO-101FD Elite Signature for $2,500. This appears to be the best price around. The seller claims the screen is in perfect condition. Or $4,499.99 for a new one.
http://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-listing/B001HDWYX0/ref=dp_olp_used?ie=UTF8&qid=1301250035&sr=8-1&condition=used

A new Pioneer KRP-500M is selling for $4,949 and a used one is selling for $1,999.
http://www.amazon.com/Pioneer-KRP-500M-50-Inch-High-Definition-Monitor/dp/B001PO5UAA/ref=sr_1_6?ie=UTF8&qid=1301250000&sr=8-6

A new Pioneer Elite PRO-151FD is selling for $9,999.99 or a used one for $6,999.99. (Exactly the same features as the 50 inch PRO-111FD, the PRO-151FD is the 60 inch version).
http://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-listing/B001CE0594/ref=dp_olp_used?ie=UTF8&qid=1301250263&sr=8-2&condition=used

A new Pioneer PDP-6020FD can be purchased for $5,995. Only one left.
http://www.amazon.com/Pioneer-PDP-6020FD-60-Inch-Class-Plasma/dp/B001AAQTXQ/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1301250490&sr=8-1

Also right now on EBAY someone has a brand new PRO-5020FD with a minimum bid starting at $2,500.
http://cgi.ebay.com/Pioneer-PDP-5020...item33661d4eb7

Someone in Canada on EBAY is selling a used PRO-111FD for $3,499.99 or best offer.

I'm not sure if you're familiar with eBay but just because the "buy it now" price is $10,500 doesn't mean that's how much the item will sell for. Beyond that, I believe the KRP-600M is worth $10,500 as it's out of production and therefore a collector's item. Only a few hundred were made. It's getting to the point where it's impossible to find any new in box, so for all you know this is the last such item. It's worth whatever the highest bid is. Roll your eyes all you want and give these items away if you wish--but you could get a fair market price.

Sorry to hear you had your plasma stolen but bragging about 6 expensive plasmas in one condo is basically a cordial invitation for thieves.

Thank you for the kind words. It ended badly for me and the two dip shits that though this was a good idea. Most thefts don't want anyone around and hit during the day. Well I was home this day, but left to get some food and rolled up right as they were coming with it out the back door. I pulled my Glock 23 (I'm a ex-cop and this Texas) told them to slowly pit the tv down, when they did one of them pulled a Saturday night special , I fired twice hitting him twice. He did not get a shot off. As this happened the other guy bolted over the fence. Anyway the screen was cracked.... So it was dead. The guy lived. These two had been breaking into houses and condos for two days. I was the 12th person (and the last they robbed).

I dont brag about my Kuro's (unless owning a bunch is bragging to you?) or put anyone down for having a different brand, and these fools were on a spree. Not just anyone knows of my tvs and where they are. I've sold the condo and moved on. I was in no way putting down your 600m .... But they are priced crazy right now and hell all Kuro's are collectors items. I want a other 5020/6020 just to do the board swap for shites and giggles. Thanks for the nice words in your post.

Sonny,
I am glad you were able to defend yourself from the thief that went for their gun. Texas has some good gun laws. It is not uncommon for some people to have 6 or more Pioneer plasma screens at a couple of homes or condos. Some close family members I know ended up getting 3 PRO-141FD’s and 3 PRO-101FD’s back in 2009 after Pioneer announced in Feb 2009 that in April of 2009 production of the 2008 models would stop. The 2008 model Pioneer plasma's were the last the company produced since it was no longer profitable to make high-end displays. Many of my family members and relatives I know keep their displays for 10-20 years. It does not really matter if someone owns 1 Pioneer Kuro or 10 Pioneer Kuro’s, everyone should be treated the same. Some people spent around $7,400 per screen while others spent around $3,500 for the exact same screen on clearance, while others spent under $2,500 on their Pioneer screens. It all depends on the model number of the screen and if the screen was purchased at full price or below dealers cost on a clearance special. Now the screens have inflated in value from there original list price since they are still the best available for 2-D 1080P picture quality in the year 2011.

One tip on securing your Pioneer screens. The Pioneer table top stands allows one to screw in or bolt the plasma screens to the top of an entertainment cabinet. The purpose of this feature is so that the plasma screen does not tip over when someone bumps into it. Another purpose of screwing down or bolting down the screen is it makes it more difficult for a thief to steal the screen. The thief has to take the time and unscrew several screws in order to move the screen off the entertainment cabinet. This will take around 10 minutes for a manual screw driver or around 5 minutes for an automatic screw driver if one uses several screws in the Pioneer table top stand.

The Pioneer PDP-5020FD original list price was $4,000. I just saw a new one sell on EBAY for $3,500. Someone just listed a used PDP-5020FD on EBAY recently for a starting bid of $1,500 and a buy it now of $2,000. The person only has 1 positive feedback so buyer be cautious. If someone was going to purchase this screen it would be smarter to do the buy it now for $2,000 since the final auction price might end up going between $3,000-$3,500+. I am not going to post a link to this auction since I am unfamiliar with the person selling it. If interested just do a search on EBAY for “PDP-5020FD” and you will find the auction as long as it is still open.

Thank you for all the tips HDTV1080P. I not only had an alarm but my Kuro's have "locks" that I made just for things like this (that's how these fools ended up breaking the screen and back of it). After the incident the police were there in less then 90 sec's (because of the alarm , not gun fire). I'm glad you see that in no way was I or have I bragged about my displays. I have no issues with how ever much one wants to pay for a kuro. Its just wild how the prices have gone through the roof is all (which was a given) I ment nothing negative buy it. Ya 9G Kuro's are the best 2-D displays. Wow could you imagine an 11 or 12G Kuro?! Gives me goose bumps just thinking about what could of been Just like your family have tons of Kuro sig's but your not bragging buy saying so IMO, but what the hell do I know right.... I have a gun on me 24-7. Good thing too, I would of been dead. The only reason the bad guy lived was because I rendered add till EMS got there. Thanks for the heads up on the 5020 for $2000, I'll look it up.
