I didn't watch Inception in the theater, but I did blind buy it and liked it. I'm not going to declare it the best movie ever, but it is definitely staying in my collection.

  • No Country for Old Men - Haven't seen it - interested in your thoughts here as well. i enjoyed the film overall (and while the ending gets a lot of the "monday morning quarterback" talk, i didn't mind it but thought it could be better executed, as could the entire film. i enjoyed it and love the atmosphere and cinematography. will pick it up when it hits 10 bucks or so.

  • The Terminal - Seen it, remember liking it. haven't seen it, but have wanted to for years now.

  • 16 Blocks - Haven't seen it. i remember trying to watch this years ago but couldn't get adjusted to Bruce Willis having a mustache! will have to try again at some point lol

  • Magnolia - Haven't seen it. a film i truly love on every level. an exquisite masterpiece imo that excels at every turn. interested to see what you think. FYI: this is a three hour film with a lot of talking. along with Tom Cruise's BEST performance. just wait till you see him here. and if you say he's "good but not great" - or whatever you said for Collateral then we're gonna have some problems
  • D3: The Mighty Ducks (DON'T JUDGE ME!

I really suggest you start with the Fight Club.

It is the ultimate "guy" movie, as well as a masterpiece movie in and out of itself.

Years from now I doubt anyone in their right mind will remember Inception as the best movie ever, but I sure had a great time watching it (both at the theater and now at home); for me it was just solid entertainment all around - visually stunning and thought provoking.

Great, now the whole time I'm watching I'll be thinking, "3.25...3.25...3.25..."

I really don't know anything about it. Heck I don't even know who's in it besides Tommy Lee Jones. I'm a virtual blank slate going in and have no expectations...so we'll see what I come out with

I haven't seen it since it first hit DVD I think, so I can't say much about it, but I do remember really enjoying it. Hopefully I still do

The only thing I've read about the movie is that Cruise is at his best and the synopsis for the movie, and it was enough to get me interested to watch it.

I better like it

is this the movie with Christian Bale () and some weird sci-fi futuristic setting and a creepy little kid? and the story is something about not having / displaying feelings? and Bale almost is always wearing a black trench-coat?

i saw bits and pieces of this a few weeks ago on the sci-fi channel and laughed hysterically at how awful it was! felt like it was very, very much made for tv. and very, very much made for the sci-fi channel

Same here since I've never seen Equilibrium. I do want to, but never really got around to it since it's not on Blu-ray here. Then I'll be able to say I saw what Ultraviolet should have been if Sony didn't totally screw it up.

That's it, I'm REALLY not seeing Fight Club now.

[Show spoiler]Okay, not really

You should sit and watch it from the beginning instead of just jumping in for a few parts of it. It's awesome

It gets compared to The Matrix.....Equilibrium >> The Matrix.
But they are pretty different films aside from the sucky future aspect, interestingly choreographed fights and no emotion (though in Equilibrium its intentional, in The Matrix its just Keanu )

It's a "low" budget, small movie he did in 2002.

Also it has the awesomeness that is Sean Bean

A basic overview:

Quote:
In a futuristic world, a strict regime has eliminated war by suppressing emotions: books, art and music are strictly forbidden and feeling is a crime punishable by death. Cleric John Preston (Bale) is a top ranking government agent responsible for destroying those who resist the rules. Whe he misses a dose of Prozium, a mind-altering drug that hinders emotion, Preston, who has been trained to enforce the strict laws of the new regime, suddenly becomes the only person capable of overthrowing it.

Ultraviolet....
I actually saw that in the theater. Me, my cousin and one of our friends were going out one night and one of them said, "Hey lets see this!"

After the movie I said, "....what was that about?"

Neither of them could answer

As for Equilibrium, you should definitely check it out one day, most likely would need to be a DVD rental since I don't think we'll ever see a US blu-ray. I think you would like it.

I really thought Ultraviolet was going to be a badass movie when I saw the trailer for it before Underworld Evolution in the theater. I actually liked it the first time, but not as much the second time of course. Then I read about all the issues they had with making that movie and that made me sad since it could have been cool.

I have little doubt I'd like Equilibrium. It's definitely right up my alley. I'll watch it one of these months.

I agree it could have been good, too bad it didn't turn out that way.

I'm actually considering importing the UK blu-ray now. I checked it out on Amazon UK and its $14.40 shipped. Not sure if I'll pull the trigger but I'll definitely think about it.

The UK Blu-ray is in the wrong aspect ratio. I don't know if that matters to you or not.

Yea I know.

It's open matte though instead of cropping (well except for effects shots) and from the screenshot comparisons I've seen it doesn't ruin the picture or anything. Some even say it looks better being on the full screen and from the few comparisons I've seen I agree.

So if the quality is sufficient I may import it. Going to talk to a few members who own it first and see if its worth it.

Unbelievable. Almodóvar blew me away again... but on a whole different level. One of the most incredible, unique, and beautiful films I have ever seen. I'm speechless.
