Watched In The Mood for Love last night. I'm betting that this will be on blu in 2011. Great film and Christopher Doyle has to be the best cinematographer alive.

I've always rented my movies through Zip, an arrangement I am generally satisfied with (except for absurd mail delays on either end!), but am debating whether to begin buying some Blu-rays. But I'd like to hear from other Canadians (I'm in Toronto, but no I don't travel to the US on business or anything) how they buy their films. Thanks.
Mostly Amazon.ca for me. I also order things from Amazon.uk as prices are very good and a lot of Blu-ray are region free. If it's something I want right away from Asia I wil lorder it from YesAsia or DDHouse if the price is not that crazy.

I started my collection by buying used on ebay. Most if not all ordered were used but in pretty mint condition (save for my Wages of Fear copy where the case is cracked but meh). But since hearing about the B&N sale, I've just been saving up and getting ready to splurge when it rolls around. You get the movies brand new, for way, way less then buying elsewhere.

I am gonna try and get this before Halloween.
Just pre-order it from Amazon, and you'll have it in your hands on the 26th...... Do or do not.... there is no try.

I certainly hope so. Mine still has an estimated "ship" date of November 1st.

Mine as well. It's confirmed to be the 8th or 9th, though.

It has been confirmed. If you walk into a B and N and ask them to look in the computer the dates are in there--multiple ppl have reported about this on other sites.

Cannot wait for the Criterion sale again

I'll be getting Seven Samurai, House, Antichrist and Paths of Glory. If it lasts until then, I'll also get Night of the Hunter, Modern Times and The BBS Story.

Correct, and here is a link to all spine numbers.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of...u-ray_releases

I kinda like the fact that Seven Samurai is going to be the lowest spine number in my collection. Nice to have such a fine film to anchor my collection. Though Grand Illusion is a fine film in it's own right.

And it is being replaced by WA 50: 25 Films by Wes Anderson, a DVD and Blu-ray box set that will feature 25 Wes Anderson projects (produced and planned) shot between 1994 and 2019. It will release in 2011 and contain 20 empty slots to house Fantastic Mr. Fox and nineteen other Wes Anderson* projects that will undoubtedly become part of the Collection by 2019, his 50th year.

*N.B. Additional titles may also be written and/or directed by Owen/Luke Wilson and/or Jason Schwartzman.

My collection is anchored by yoj/san, Monterey, Brakhage, etc..... I put the "double-wides" at the end of the shelf so the movies don't tip over and fall off

I guess I'm one of the few who collects them all, yet doesn't put them in order of spine # Same with the DVDs. I also move them on the shelf based on what one was watched most recently, etc.

All of January's titles are now up for pre-order on Amazon with a price of $27.99. So, jump on it now 'cause you should all know by now that Amazon is gonna hike up the price in a week or so.
