I'm gonna start opening any movies I buy retail in front of the cashier.

Yes, that is exactly what I did. I was so curious about how it looked and having a Blu with the updated lossless audio that I bought the standalone disc from someone selling it (and I added it in with the original BD in a 2 disc case).
But now my OCD and 4K collecting has gotten the best of me, and I just purchased the actual 4K set as $15.99 plus selling the digital code is right in my wheelhouse. |

Yeah, if you want 30-40 year-old tech.
![]() Most important, but certainly not all, older flicks have now been remastered and improved ... I finally got to watch the new remastered BD. For a while, several times, I A/B'd the two discs. It was so strange, the old disc seemed to be sharper, but the color and detail on the new remaster was so much better (the sun drenched scenes were glorious right from the opening). I usually prefer a sharper image but after rewatching the 3rd or 4th scene, the lack of detail made the greater sharpness of the old seem like an illusion. The last scene I A/B'd was the scene where Munny and the Kid are waiting by the tree for their money … just no comparison, the new BD was glorious in revealing detail - which was a different kind of "softer" sharpness, if you will - and the sound was way more atmospheric/emotional. Maybe someday I'll get to be 4K and it'll be even better, but for now, if you're thinking about getting the remastered BD, don't hesitate. ![]() |

And in case anyone else was planning on ordering this from Amazon, I got a slipless (which seems like that's been long gone for while) copy, and while the back didn't say anything about a digital code (which it does in Amazon's pics) there was a sheet in there and the code was still valid.

Only $14.99 on Amazon. I still have my HD-DVD copy, but love this film and might just go for it and be my first 4K BD although I don't have a 4K Blu-ray Player.
