Sharpness is just a little bit better but at least ugly halo (d)efect is gone . If colors are more saturated on UHD disc (as "Cobravenomous" camera photos clearly suggest) it looks like decent upgrade after all .
Definitely more detail across the board. Looking great. Will be interested when they release this as a standalone film.

Saving the first movie for tonight when it’s proper dark outside.

However, I’m 20 minutes into The Lost World and very impressed. Murders the BD. Nice uptick in detail, the colours are great. Grain is there. Basically looks like the same master they used for the BD (which I remember being good) but now in glorious 4K, and HDR has really brought it to life. Nobody is going to be particularly disappointed with this that’s for sure. It’s pretty damn good.

The iTunes digital copies I redeemed from previous releases of this collection have been upgraded to 4K automatically, as have many titles I upgraded to 4K (e.g., Dark Knight, Planet of the Apes, etc.), so I have a pile of digital copies to get rid of.

Ted? Is that a new color format?

I've made a few additional caps. This time with splitscreen comparing the standard BD upscaled to 4K by my Panasonic BDP-700 to the UHD disc (again, the UHD having been converted to SDR so not representative of the colors or dynamic range present on the disc).

I've also included a couple of effects shots this time around:

the increase in detail is very minimal

extremely disappointing in that respect, hopefully the new colours are good

Absolutely. Except that first shot wasn't among the ones I captured previously so that one I will have to do later as it takes a while to set up for capture.

Here are the others:

No problem, take your time. Thanks for the screens. The second screenshot shows the real benefit of the new 4K scan. Of all the screenshots that last one is the best details wise. It has that lovely 4K look.

Even if you downscale the screens back to 1920x1080, it shows the benefit.

This looks like garbage...I'll need to find some way of watching the 3D remaster and just try to overlook the DNR.

You're welcome.
Yeah I'm guessing that first shot being a digital effects shot was probably finished at what I assume is likely sub-2K resolution or something given that this was back in 1993? That second shot which I assume is a fully practical effects shot has the advantage of much higher resolution.
Overall, as is to be expected, most of the shots with digital dinos in them are very soft looking in this release and don't showcase much additional details compared to the BD.

Good thing there are only a few minutes of CG throughout the whole film.
